What You Can Expect

Half-Day Trip to Montmorency Falls and Ste-Anne-de-Beaupré from Quebec

Shrine of Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupre, Quebec

Begin this half-day in the country with a Québec City hotel pickup, or meet the guide and the rest of the tour group at the Musée de la civilisation (Museum of Civilization), located in historic Old Québec near the Saint Lawrence River.

Follow Avenue Royale through the traditional villages and farms of the Beaupre Coast, approximately 15 minutes north of Quebec City. Visit Montmorency Falls, an 83-meter-high waterfall on the Montmorency River (it’s 30 meters higher than Niagara Falls), and the legendary Basilica of Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré, where many a miracle has occurred.

Additional stops include the Chocolaterie de l'Ile d'Orléans, with 24 flavors of ice cream during the summer season and a wide variety of chocolates made from only the finest ingredients imported from Belgium. At the Cuivres D'Art Albert Gilles, learn about the art of embossing copper, visit two museums and stop by the gift shop for a souvenir. Finally, at the Chez Marie bread oven, discover a traditional bakery where fresh bread is made in 150-year-old outdoor ovens. Enjoy danishes, buns, a variety of breads plus maple products, assorted jams and more.
The tour ends with a Quebec City hotel drop-off.

Tour guide was from the area and extremely knowledgeable about the church. If you go to Quebec City, don't miss this one.

Although you could easily drive to Montmorency Falls and Ste-Anne-de-Beaupre from Quebec, it is worth it to sit back, enjoy the ride and listen to the tour guide also the driver. The stop at the copper factory was informative and there was no pressure to buy. And amazing examples of this art the front doors, for instance! could then be seen at Ste-Anne-de-Beaupre. Scenic, informative, and enjoyable and longer than expected about 5 hours start to finish.

A great day of sightseeing. The Montmorency Falls were great with brilliant views from both the bottom and the top after a ride up in the trolley. Chocolates, fresh baked goods, brilliant scenery. All part of a great day, topped off with a visit to Ste-Anne-de-Beaupre church, with beautiful statues and magnificent stain glass stories set in a very spiritual church.

This 1/2 day trip is a good way to see the Quebec countryside. Our tour guide Francois, a native of the village where the giant cathedral is located was funny and informative. The copper factory was interesting as well. We could have used some more time at the Montmorency Falls but it is a 1/2 day trip.
