This was an excellent trip - especially the morning flight over the glaciers and Milford Sound was exciting and definitely worth the money.
Being a small ship we were able to get really near the rocks with seals and the waterfalls even under one!
Amazing trip thru the Mountains! Very kind and helpful pilot.
It was a beautiful day for flying and to see the majestic mountains, snow capped and both jagged and verdant was remarkable. You feel like the pilot is a bird guiding you through the peaks before the reveal of Milford Sound. The boat cruise was lovely, thank goodness for the warm tea as it was cold. The captain pointed out some things and game minimum historical references, would have been nice to learn a bit more. The flight back was as spectacular and was grateful to have been able to see the birds eye view, and the seal level view.
This was the highlight of our trip to New Zealand. Stunning views of breathtaking scenery. Highly recommended.
The best way to experience Milford Sound!!! Excellente aerial shots and the cruise was also great!!
This was one of the most fabulous excursions we have every taken! The flight to Milford sound took 35 minutes instead of a 4 hour bus ride and held 14 people and was absolutely gorgeous. The pilot was very nice and pointed out scenes along the way. The cruise of Milford sound was breathtaking!! We were there in June, so it was winter, but the sun was out and we stopped to watch a seal eating an octopus, and seals along the rocks. The captain stopped at a waterfall and let the water splash on the bow of the boat. There was another guide on the boat that was very helpful in educating us about Milford Sound. On the flight back, the pilot let me sit in the seat next to him, which was the icing on the cake of this best day of our vacation. This is worth paying the extra money to fly over the mountains!
Great tour all round from the friendly pilot who flew us to Milford Sound and back, to the Captain of the boat. Being a smaller boat we got a lot closer to items of interest than other boats did which was great. If you're going on this trip I would advise packing some lunch as there was nothing available on board other than hot drinks.
Tremendous day! The flights were smooth and comfortable with the most amazing sights and the cruise offered magnificent views and some very playful dolphins and seals. Great pilot who escorted us to bus and back to plane at end. Out of two weeks, this might have been our best day which says a lot!
This trip was incredible from the first take off to the final landing, including the ride in the small single-prop plane and the boat cruise of the sound. Putting words on the views and sites is nearly impossible, as this is a true you have to see it to believe it type of experience. Pack a warm layer as even on a gorgeous day the boat cruise can get windy and chilly, but it is all 100 worth it! We absolutely had a blast.
Good transportation. Excellent flight. We had a nice clear day, no turbulence. There was a short bus ride from the little landing strip at Milford Sound to the boat. We're 65 and 66 and we're not complaining about having to stand but some people may not have liked that. The box lunch was big but not exceptional, sandwich, apple, chips, beverage, sweet. The falls were really running as it had been raining for several weeks. Since we have seen the Rockies and the Alps, I'd rate the southern alps of mainland NZ as better than okay but not a must see. Best part was seeing all the people on the lower deck crowd in the get waterfall, the captain pulled in very, very close, People got soaked.
