What You Can Expect

Queenstown Segway Tour

Queenstown Segway tour

Get an introduction to New Zealand’s ‘adventure capital’ on a 1- or 2-hour Segway tour of Queenstown. From the centrally located Earnslaw Park, a shuttle transfers you on a short ride to the starting point.

After your guide demonstrates how to operate the Segway and outfits you with a helmet, take some time to practice steering and powering the easy controls. Once you’re comfortable, you’ll set off to explore Queenstown, following your guide in a small group toward Lake Wakatipu.

Stop at scenic spots for photo ops and continue your 1-hour tour along the bay, or select a 2-hour tour that includes more terrain.

1-hour tour: Enjoy a basic overview of Queenstown and its stunning surroundings with a spin around Queenstown Bay, an inlet on Lake Wakatipu. Take in outstanding views of the Remarkables, Cecil Peak and Walter Peak looming just above the resort town as you ride from Earnslaw Park past St Omer Park, Marine Parade and the Queenstown Gardens. Listen to your guide’s informative commentary about Queenstown’s history and landmarks.

2-hour tour:Put your skills to the test with another hour of fun on your eco-friendly Segway. Cruise along the shoreline of Lake Wakatipu before you venture a bit out of Queenstown. You’ll glide up a hill or two — certainly more fun on a Segway than on foot — and glide through Queenstown Gardens to see botanical exhibits on display. On the return ride, you have the option to try out a higher speed setting to glide at a quicker pace.

Queenstown is a fantastic city to visit and, with only a day to do so, the Segway Tour was a fun way to see as much of it as possible. I have gone on Segway tours in various cities San Francisco, Austin, New Orleans, and this was one that I highly recommend. Our guide Kevin was great! A beautify city, fun ride, and relaxed atmosphere. Have a great time in Queenstown!

Segways are a great way to get around the city. Sunshine did a fantastic job teaching us quickly how to ride the Segways and did a great job leading the tour of the city.

Terrific fun and a great way to see a lovely town. Chuck was a patient and confidence building guide who ensured that we were safe and had a ball. Better than bike riding!

Good trip. Mostly downhill, so not too difficult. Very little traffic on the mountain, so no major issues.

Great views on the way down and the speed of the bikes, with little effort, was exhilarating. Only issues were riding through the town, in a big group. Dealing with traffic and lane changes, etc., was pretty dull

Overall, strongly recommend the trip. If the town part gets too crazy, get off the bike and put it in the van.
