What You Can Expect

Queenstown Super Saver: Milford Sound Nature Cruise plus Walter Peak High Country Farm Tour

Walter Peak Farm

Milford Sound Nature Cruise (Day 1)Start your Milford Sound tour with hotel pickup in Queenstown and a scenic drive, taking in the picturesque landscapes en route to UNESCO World Heritage–listed Fiordland National Park.

On arrival, hop aboard the vessel for a 2-hour nature cruise on Milford Sound, a famous fiord where sheer rock faces may be mist-shrouded or cascading with waterfalls into deep, dark waters below, depending on the season. Navigating the length of the fiord to the Tasman Sea, the knowledgeable skipper provides live commentary and points out wildlife sightings, such as the bottlenose dolphins, fur seals and rare Fiordland crested penguins that call the frigid waters home.

After your cruise, you’ll be taken back to your Queenstown hotel before your tour resumes on Day 2.
Walter Peak High Country Farm Tour (Day 2)Make your way to the Steamer Wharf at Queenstown’s Lake Wakatipu, and board the TSS Earnslaw, a vintage steamship that delivers you to Walter Peak High Country Farm.

During the cruise, learn about the history of the coal-powered vessel at its on-site museum, and peek at the original steam engines from the open viewing area. Join a sing-along as the onboard pianist plays a variety of old favorites to set the mood.

At Walter Peak High Country Farm, you’re treated to either morning or afternoon tea at the Colonel's Homestead with homemade baked goods and a cup of tea or coffee. Watch sheep dogs herding and see other traditional farming practices demonstrated at the farm, including sheep shearing and wool spinning.

Enjoy a leisurely stroll through the lakeside gardens before the return journey by steamship to Queenstown.

I had the most amazing time at Milford Sound as the weather was perfect. Saw the dolphins swimming by the side of the boat, saw the seals and a penguin from afar. Enjoyed the breathtaking and amazing view plus a thousand memories to take home with me. What an experience!

Milford Sounds is incredible!! We changed the tour with the help of the agent to the Milford Sound and Lunch tour, and Viator kindly gave us a refund for the difference.

Can't fault them.

The Milford Sound was beautiful. We even got to see some seals! The boat ride was a little rocky so if you're prone to motion sickness come prepared. We went on a rainy, overcast day but the sun came out on the last leg of the ride. A rainbow welcomed us back to the dock.

The petting zoo at Walter peak was the highlight for me. The animals know that humans food so they follow your every move. The scones at tea time were awesome too!
