Excellent tour. Great guide. We were able to customize out experience because we were not doing well at high altitude. Highly recommend.
Our guide, Francisco was great. He gave great advice to me and my brother for our first hike at high elevation. The hike was tough but totally worth it. It was beautiful, fresh air, and great scenery. One of the highlights of the trip! We opted for the private tour with lunch. Definitely worth the extra money for the small trip and really great lunch!
We had an amazing time on the Cotopaxi day trip from Quito. Our guide, Daniel, made the trip so fun and taught us so much about the park and Ecuador in general. He always put our safety first which was greatly appreciated. I would highly recommend this tour if you enjoy outdoor adventures!
This was an excellent tour and hike. We cannot say enough about our guide Suffice to say he was excellent. We highly recommend this excursion.
Our private tour To Cotopaxi with Rodrigo was awesome! We were picked up promptly and enjoyed an informative ride to Cotopaxi. The hike and views were amazing and well timed. He made sure we got to pick up souvenirs and chocolate along the way. The lunch spot he picked was beyond delicious! Must Go!
This was a magnificent experience from the start along the Avenue of the volcanoes. Our guide, Rigo, was so informative. The icing on the cake had to be Cotopaxi national park. We had a beautiful view of Cotopaxi from the valley with the wild horses. Then the drive up, close to Refugio was an adventure in itself. We hiked the last hour to Refugio which was a welcome rest spot at almost 16,000 ft. The views were awesome until the mist descended. Fortunately our guide was very familiar with these conditions and we headed back down to the sound of thunder. We were surprised to find the valley we had left bathed in sunshine, just 2 hours before, was now covered in hailstone making it an even more magical experience.
we signed up for the wrong tour but our guide was flexible and accommodated us. While the others hiked up Cotopaxi, we went with the driver to the lake.
Wow! First this tour was beautiful. The scenery and the guide were excellent. I unfortunately could not walk up to the summit due to respiratory issues but the guide made sure I was taken care of. My husband walked a bit of the way and then came back. I also loved the lunch spot, on a ranch, and it was delicious and peaceful!
Fantastic experience. I highly recommend Daniel and this tour. Very personal experience just my wife and me. Learned a lot about Ecuador life that you'd never get in a larger group. Daniel took us to Cotopaxi via back roads so we go to see local view. Like traveling with a friend.
Nadia was a very knowledgable tour guide and the tour was very interesting.
My husband and I went to Ecuador to celebrate our first year anniversary and one of the most exciting thing we did was to hike the Cotopaxi volcano on the day of our anniversary. Our tour guide was Alfonso Freire. He was the most amazing guide ever. He was on time, he is very professional, patient and has excellent customer service expertise. the trip to the Cotopaxi was extraordinary but Alfonso make our experience unforceful. Very please with Viator and Alfonso.

Great experience. Nice to get out of busy Quito to see the countryside. Cotopaxi park is beautiful. Hike is a challenge with the altitude, but worth it. Our guide and driver were excellent.
We hiked on March 17, 2017 and this was definitely the highlight of our trip. It was cold and snowing which was perfect for us because we don't get snow back home in Florida. I booked a private tour for our family of four so that we could maintain our own pace as we hiked up the mountain. Our guide Daniel was great as he knows the mountain well. Please do not make this your first excursion of your trip if you are not used to high elevations. Give yourself 2-3 days to become acclimated to the elevations in Ecuador. You will hike to 15,953 feet where there is a refuge. Plan on spending a few dollars there sandwiches, snacks, hot chocolate, tea, etc. to support the locals. It makes the decent down much easier if you stop to rest and snack there.
Raul was our tour guide and he was was GREAT! He gave us information about Quito on our drive there and back. He was very knowledgeable about the National Park and the Volcano. We were able to drive to the upper parking area. Unfortunately the weather was not real clear but the views were still fabulous. It started to snow/sleet while we were at the upper parking area so we decided against the walk to base camp. But we took time to walk around the lake and see the wildlife there. Raul stopped anywhere we wanted to take pictures and suggested some that we did not think of. We purchased the lunch option and so glad we did. We stopped at a local restaurant and had one of the best if not the best meal of our vacation. It was definitely worth the money we spent. It also gave us time to talk to Raul about Ecuador. At the end of the tour Raul stopped at a Super Market and went in with us to help us purchase chocolate and coffee. Raul was a great driver and tour guide and he made this experience one we will always remember.
The hike to the mountain across Cotopaxi was a great experience. Though Cotopaxi was covered by clouds, we could have a glimpse of the peak off and on. It was a sight to behold.
Good day trip from Quito cold and windy though. Nice variety of things to see.
Great trip to Cotopaxi with Daniel. He is very knowledgeable and passionate about what he shows us, great English . Cotopaxi park is partially closed , due to possible eruptions. Nevertheless , we went as close as possible and had a great view of the snow capped volcano.
Cannot miss this if you visit Quito. The area around Cotopaxi is something to be experienced. We had an excellent guide who took us to the important points and relayed a lot of relevant information regarding our excursion. Be prepared to spend the number of hours listed on the description.
We did Cotopaxi Glacier hike just two days before the August 14, 2015 eruption. It was a beautiful sunny day in Quito, we stopped at a look-out point, a great place to get an overview of the city. On the way, our tour guide gave us a brief introduction about the history of Quito and the volcanoes in Ecuador. It was cloudy in Cotopaxi. I assume this is a normal day in Cotopaxi due to the high altitude. Occasionally the wind blows the clouds away and we could enjoy a few moment of blue sky. This was a very difficult hike for me due to the high altitude although I had hiking experiences in Canadian Rockies. Slowly I made it to the glacier and I felt great.
Good tour. Would have liked some more time to go further up the volcano and the last stop for the lake was a bit boring, however the transport was good as was the guide.

This trip is well worth the cost and effort. Climbing the flanks of Cotopaxi to almost 16,000 feet is no easy stroll and requires a certain amount of effort and determination. We recommend getting used to the elevation in Quito prior to going. Our guide Diego was very enthusiastic and supportive during our hike, as well as most informative throughout the trip. In addition, by taking the alternate sight-seeing route on the drive up gave us great views and sense of the agricultural activities in the region. It was unfortunate that the weather was not very cooperative so we didn't get the views of the volcano we had hope for, but the lunch provided on the way back was superb. My only minor complaint was that no bottled water was supplied for the hike was included in the tour description. Generally a very good experience.
