My favorite trip in Ecuador, a must do
MARIAM_M, Mar 2022
Picked up at the hotel as promised. We had 2 stops on the way which were wonderful, visiting an indigenous home, going inside and talking to the residents, incredible; and also a stop at a shop where the artist sells paintings on sheep skin. This was also the artist's workshop. We spend 3 hours at the Crater Lake. Our guide Diego was wonderful, professional, knowledgeable, explained the local culture in details, frequently checked on us because we were at high altitude. Many thanks to Diego and Pedro our driver!. This was an 11 hour day as they said in the trip description. The Thursday Indegenous market is not apparel on going, so be sure to check with the vendor if you really want to visit the market. The Kay's are tandem only and sit in.
Beautiful high altitude hike!

My friend and I had a great day at Quilotoa! Oscar was a great guide and very knowledgeable about Quito and the surrounding areas. We definitely had our butts kicked on the hike up from the lake, but it was totally worth it and we did it! We enjoyed the other stops along the way, like for coffee and the canyon. We would definitely do another tour with Oscar!
Amazing views and atmosphere l

Must-do day from Quito

What a fabulous day with Irene and Carlos! The ride out to Quilotoa is long, but Irene was entertaining and informative, the vehicle was comfortable, and the landscape was breathtaking. There was so much to look at and we made a nice stop for breakfast/snacks. The lagoon is gorgeous - even in the rain - and the town is charming. Be sure to bring some treats for the stray dogs and a hiking pole for the trek down. You'll work up a good appetite for the filling local lunch. Whatever you order, you can't go wrong. It's all so delicious. This would be a great day trip no matter what, but Irene and Carlos really went the extra mile to make the day special.

Diego was fabulous, explained everything thoroughly and was very informative. We really enjoyed hearing his stories. He was extremely nice and accompanied us patiently throughout the hike (we had to take a lot of breaks!). The lagoon is absolutely stunning and very much worth seeing, but I do have to warn that the hike was difficult for my mother, who is a relatively fit 50 year-old, so it might be important to take that to note if you decide to take the hike up (keep the altitude in mind). The rest of the trip was amazing too, and the views were really beautiful. We really enjoyed our time with Diego.
Amazing Lagoon trip!

I loved being able to see the Central Highlands and hike Quilotoa. While I appreciated the stop for breakfast, fresh fruit, and the gallery/source it shop, I was disappointed by the little time allotted to the hike. Perhaps I would have felt differently if I had a clearer sense of the intinerary/schedule, but I didn’t find out until I got on the bus. With such a small window, it was stressful and exhausting. I was also surprised that Carlos didn’t do the hike with us. The lunch was also underwhelming for the price.
Response from Host, Sep 2021
Dear customer. Each trip has a brief explanation of the itinerary. Our guide always walks down with our passengers up to the lagoon. I don´t know why this time he didn´t. This tour is actually one of the best day trips from Quito because of the beautiful Andes landscape. It is a long day trip (11-12 hours) that´s why the time is limited and passengers should understand it. You paid us $65 for this trip which lunch is not included. We suggest restaurants so each passenger eats and pays whatever they want. The VAN we always use is a (CRAFTER VOLKSWAGEN 30, 17 passengers, the year 2016) which is really comfortable. I respect your opinion but think your comment is not really appropriate. Your comment is useful for future customers to clarify what we do and offer. Thank you!
Amazing

Easy communication and comfortable transportation. Diego (tour guide) is very knowledgeable about the history and areas. All questions were answer. Thank you Diego for making this tour memorable.
