Too expensive.

Unfortunately the guide supplied for the tour was not appropriate. Heavy repition of information, and child like communication.
Stunning Crater Lake
Kate_C, Jan 2023
The brochure claims: "Visits to two craft workshops known for colorful pictures and pottery." This actually means a roadside small shop to purchase items. Crater Lake is beautiful and the drive there was wonderfully scenic. Overall, I would recommend taking this trip.
Beautiful views!

We had a phenomenal time with Carlos on this tour! The view is spectacular from any angle. You’re literally up in the clouds! Highly recommend.
Amazing experience

Fantastic tour at a great price. Irene, the tour guide, was funny, knowledgeable, and just all around great! Highly recommend
Great hike and guide!

We had a great guide, and a great tour with an amazing lunch! Highly recommend this tour and our guide, Daniel. It's a tough hike, but worth the effort!
Beautiful lake and a fantastic guide
Kelsey_P, Oct 2022
Our guide, Francisco, was amazing -- though we booked a group tour, it was just two of us on the tour and Francisco spent the drive answering all of our questions and telling us about the area we were driving through. Quilotoa itself was beautiful, and we hiked down to the bottom to kayak on the lake before the (mildly strenuous) hike back up. Francisco led us to a great place for lunch, but due to a bad storm we had to come straight back after that. We had an amazing time seeing Quilotoa with Francisco!

If you are not use to...
Danielle_D, Sep 2022
If you are not use to hiking, this may not be for you. To hike down to the base of the water is about a half hour. To walk back up to the top of the mountain is over an hour. It is extremely hard. I had to take a horse back up for $10 US. Good luck!
Response from Host, Sep 2022
Hello Danielle, yes on the itinerary we make the hike down to the lake but also you have the option to choose until where you want or go down or you can choose to stay in the lookout, is always your choice. It is no mandatory to get to the lake and also the guide explains you that if you want to use the mules you have to pay 10USD to a local person. We always recommend to walk until you feel good and don´t use the mules.
Breathtaking once in a lifetime view

Such an amazing day seeing the views of Quilotoa! Our guide was amazing and made the trip so fun! Each stop we made was amazing! I would highly recommend this tour!
Great tour

This tour was great. David was the most friendly tour guide. Very knowledgeable and very sweet person. Constantine was a great driver. Felt very safe in the van. Helped us at every stop. The tour made great stops along the way to break up the drive. The crater was beautiful and the hike down took 30 minutes. The way back up is strenuous. So if you don’t feel like hiking an incline. Stay at the top. Down at the crater lake was kayaking and a little cafe.
What a perfect day.

This was an amazing experience. Altitude was a shock but the walk down to the crater was easy. The hike up was tougher but so worth it. Our guide was so much fun. He made it personal and was dedicated to making sure we all had a good time.
Beautiful and informative. Guide was great.

Quilatoa hike and beautiful farm lands along the way. Guide recommended great lunch spot and also allowed time for a little shopping.

Good experience, could be better

It would be useful if the guides provided more educational information about the area, history, people, etc. The minibus was comfortable. The amount of time at Quilotoa felt right.

Great day trip.
brittney_g, Apr 2022
I enjoyed this tour. The minibus was comfortable. We received a fair amount of information about the area on the way to quilotoa. Our guide was approachable and encouraged all members of the group to spend their time at the lake how they wanted to- no pressure to walk all the way down and all the way back up. There were a handful of stops along the way for a snack, bathroom break, to take pictures. The day was mapped out well so we knew what to expect. The trip wasn't made uncomfortable by the guide asking for tips. I am all for tipping but in previous experiences when guides focus on this it can be uncomfortable for the group. I had a great day. Thank you!!
Quilotoa was enjoyed by all!

An amazing day trip from Quito!
Elizabeth_O, Mar 2022
This tour was definitely the highlight of our trip to Quito, Ecuador. We initially thought we would be going with a large group but it ended up just being my party on an MVP tour. Instead of a bus we were able to take a car, which made the journey much more comfortable (we were told this varies based on the time of year and the number of people booked for the tour). This was the general timeline of our day: we were picked up around 07:30, on the way to Quilotoa we stopped at a gas station/convenience store and had breakfast, we drove to Cotapaxi province and stopped at a local souvenir shop, we stopped at a couple outlooks along the way (the area is absolutely gorgeous), and then we finally arrived in Quilotoa. At Quilotoa there were a couple hiking options: hike to the bottom and back of the crater or hike along the rim of the crater: we opted to do half of the hike to the bottom AND the hike along the rim of the crater. We were happy with our option because the elevation definitely hit us to the uphill hike! Finally we had lunch in Quilotoa, which was probably one of the best meals I had in Ecuador (the vegetarian option had some of the freshest and most vibrant vegetables grown in the local area) and then we drove 2.5 hours back to Quito. We got back to our hostel around 17:30, had dinner in the area and then promptly went to bed. Our tour guide was fantastic and really took the time to educate us on the regions history as well as point out a lot of local plants/flowers. If you are on the fence I would definitely recommend you book. You won't be disappointed! If we had more time in Ecuador, we definitely would have booked another day trip with this company.

Very Cool Trek Into the Andes
Rachel_W, Feb 2022
Really enjoyed this excursion and Erika is an awesome guide, as previous reviews have said. I didn't have a lot of time in my total trip for mainland Ecuador (I'll have to return!) so I wanted to see as much as I could in the time I have. This entire excursion from the quick breakfast stop to the winding drive through countryside and indigenous villages to Quilotoa itself, local lunch, and the artists' village of Tigua was a great dip into Ecuadorian land and culture. Very glad I went! The only note I have (and it does say this in the description, but just to reiterate) is that this is quite a long day, around 11 or 12 hours in total with transportation. Bring water and sunscreen, and arrange your other travel plans accordingly.
Great tour!

You can’t go wrong with a Quito Tour Bus tour led by Irene! This was my second tour of the week with Irene as my guide. Her English is very good, she is very knowledgeable, and is very enthusiastic about sharing her country with tourists. The hike is challenging, but I found it to be much easier than Cotopaxi. The view is incredible. I highly recommend this tour!!!
