This tour included a three part exploration of Quito highlights. Our guide, Daniel, was very personable and knowledgable regarding all aspects of Quito's history, geography, economy, and politics. His English was outstanding. Our first stop was Teleferico where we rode the cable car to exquisite views of the city. Daniel explained the vegetation at different altitudes highlighting the paper tree at the summit. We had our pictures taken with a llama dressed in native ponchos and hats. The second stop was Mitad del Mundo, the equator. This was a fascinating tour including demonstrations of the magnetic forces of north and south meeting at the center of the earth. Daniel was able to balance an egg on the head of a nail at latitude 00. There was a lovely gift shop where we purchased beautiful alpaca sweaters at bargain prices. We then drove to the Old City of Quito where we had a delicious lunch at an upscale restaurant. This was followed by a walking tour of the Old City. This tour featured the architecture and designs of Quito's grandest cathedrals. We started at the Grand Plaza and were greeted by those campaigning and advocating for political candidates outside the residence of the President. Daniel reviewed the fascinating history of the design of Iglesia de la Compañia de Jesús. The magnificence of the beauty, history, and interior of gold was staggering. This tour made for a very informative and enjoyable way to experience the highlights of the lovely city of Quito.
Very interesting tour. Both the guide and driver were excellent, we were able to get to places just ahead of the crowds. Home office was very responsive when I wanted to add additional people to my group. Nothing was too much trouble for these guys. Highly recommend
The trip was well organized, the tour guide came to the hotel as stated in itenerary, on time, Diego our guide was awesome!! He was intelligent well informed and spoke great English. I learned alot about the history and culture of Quito and Ecuador. He took the time to show us around and gave us an experience like a local.
Dan picked us at the Hotel on time.
Was courteous and knowledgeable.
His English is very good.
Showed us many places.
The tour was indeed private, just two of us.
Took us to a restaurant where he helped
us with the selection as it was all in Spanish.
We had a good time.
Our tour guide Daniel was delightful and so knowledgeable. The views from the top of the Teleferico were stunning and the trip to the middle of the world was well worth the drive. Finally, the tour of old town Quito including the beautiful Compania de Jesus church topped off this perfect day.
This tour was excellent. Fantastic tour guide. Loved the whole day tour seeing so much. I can highly recommend it. However as mentioned to the tour guide - the only way to book this tour was paying for 2 people as the website refused to take a single persons booking. So as I wanted to do the tour with all the places mentioned I paid double. I trust Viator takes notice of this.
The trip was organized. The guide was very informative. We saw the main highlights, which took about 8-9 hours. It's a must if you have a day to explore Quito.
Excellent guide but driver using his phone whilst driving, picking up his friends meaning the guide had to sit in the back with us and aggressive driving. Only one of the back doors opened.
Tour covered highlights of Quito, rather cloudy so poor views from cable car.
We had 1 day in Quito before heading to the Galapagos Islands and we wanted to see the highlights of the city. We have booked with Viator before and have always been pleased, but not so much with this tour. They did not provide a pick up time when we booked the tour - instead they woke us at 4AM to say that they would pick us up at 830AM. The tour was very superficial and we drove by most things - we did not get to go inside any of the churches. The driver and tour guide spent most of the time talking between themselves in Spanish and for the end of the tour there was a third man in the front who I do not believe was part of the tour. The museum at the equator was fun for the children, but the top of the cable car ride was very cold and windy - Nobody knew that this was likely to be an issue. I did get an appreciation for the size of Quito and some of the history - but this tour did not live up to the standards that the other Viator tours have had.
