Following 8am pickup at your hotel in Saint-Denis, climb into an air-conditioned tour van and head for Maïdo, one of Reunion's tallest peaks.
Ascend to 7,217 feet (2,200 meters) over the course of the 17-mile (27-kilometer) drive to the top of Maïdo, which overlooks the city of Saint Paul and the Cirque de Mafate. From there, you can see hiking trails winding through the valley, dotted with villages, and the Indian Ocean beyond.
Come down from the peak to explore Saint Paul's market fair, chock full of products made from the Indian Ocean and local crafts that make amazing souvenirs. Taste the mock Martin pepper, sample Margoze bitters, taste some local kumquats and dragon fruit. Check out malagasy tablecloths and hats and bags made from vacoas braided material.
Return to your hotel in Saint-Denis for drop-off around 12:30pm.
