This was awesome! We were lucky enough to see the lights!!! Make sure you atleast try!!!!! Holy moly was it cold and windy though, however the tour offers you hot chocolate and yummy biscuits. Our tour guide was awesome! It was his first night and he was very informative. Many people wanted to sleep, he sensed that and went easy.
Part of this was chance, I know, because of the remarkable display that occurred for three nights in September. But we saw incredible views in part because our guides were willing to keep moving and trying other locations. Also appreciated the side trips, such as the geothermal restaurant kitchen, and the stories about the faults. Our guides were also the friendliest people we met in Iceland.
Our tour guide was awesome! The Northern Lights were not entirely what we expected, but once we learned more about them from our guide and how the camera lens catches what we often can't see with our eyes we were very impressed with this wonder of nature. We chased the lights, found them, and greatly enjoyed the adventure.
we saw the lights what more can i say
Didn't see anything and was extremely cold. I know it's not guaranteed but we went the opposite way of where the Northern Lights were meant to appear that night.
The bus was clean , guide was friendly and smart. Only saw a faint glimpse of the lights though
Friendly, and good chocolate drink to keep us warm. information re taking correct photographs was helpful to those with cameras able to keep their lenses open to capture the hidden lights.
We were picked just as it was about to begin raining. From our hotel, we were taken to the transfer station - only to stand in line outside, in the rain. Granted, we were dressed for rain, but the forecast should have been a red flag - you can't see anything if it's that cloudy. I had booked the tour before our trip and learned that next time I should book this tour ONLY once we are there and know the forecast for sure. The tour operator offered to take us out again the following night, but we had the same forecast and frankly, the thought of driving around until 2 or 3 in the morning one more time did not sound appealing. Also, I thought the bus would have a hot drink and sadly it did not.
It was over booked that night so we were delayed in seeing the Aurora in time. We were an hour late getting to our destination and got the last leg of it. Poor routing and communication on the tours part.
