We have learned to take the hop-on...
, Jul 2018
We have learned to take the hop-on, hop-off bus tours whenever going to a new city. This trip was no different. We got a great overview of Rvk and allowed us to get off after one trip around at the stope we were interested in.
The Hop On Hop Off tour bus stops at many convenient locations. However, the hours are limited. Unlike other Hop-On Hop-Off tours I have done in the past, the ticket was not stamped with a time. Therefore, I recommend buying your ticket as early in the day as possible so that you have the entire day to enjoy the use of the buses.
Terrible - do not waste your money. I do the hop on hop off in cities all over the world as I think that it is a good way to get a sense of the city and then decide what to do. This was by far the most boring one I have ever been on - waste of money
Not the best. Only 1 bus running which left 1 hour between busses which is impractical. It was a cold day and you didn't know if the bus was going to come in 55 min or 5 min. Not practice on a cold day.
I wouldn't recommend.
Caught the bus from Stop 1 with no issues - hopped off at stop 6 whale museum and after completing that I waited outside in the snow for the bus to turn up. Was told they were running every half an hour but after waiting 20 minutes after the designated pickup time I was on a strict timeline as I was flying out later I had to walk to the next place of interest - stop 8, which took about half an hour. I realise I could have waited for the next bus but at that stage I had no idea whether one had broken down, or would even turn up so I walked out my frustrations. The audio segment of the tour didn't work either so it was a very quiet bus ride.
Totally worth it, the best way to see all the sights Iceland has to offer. It comes every half an hour at each stop so you get plenty of time and its easy to catch the bus again when you are finished. I highly recommend getting off at the Pearl and visiting the icecave underground!
Had difficulty getting from my guesthouse to one the hop on /hop off sites to catch a bus.. frustrating to have to spend time lost tryng to get downtown. Would have been nice to know which city bus to go downtown. Suggest that the hop on hop off stop at th central city bus area, so people can catch a connecting bus to where they are staying. Only able to see two sights. Disappointing. One needs to spend a whole day with this activity.
