Although it's a heck of a long day, the scenery along the south coast is incredible, with the end destination at the glacier lagoon a spectacular highlight. I did not feel the need to go out in the boat as you can gaze at the icebergs from the shore just as well. A short ride over to the ocean side to 'Diamond beach' is a photographer's delight. Our guide was friendly and full of stories about the Icelandic sagas and history, and made the time go by on the bus quickly. Our meal stops were efficient, and the food was basic, but satisfactory. Well worth the day!

Thought I had already reviewed this amazing trip but glad to re-live the experience. A very long day which we had definitely had reservations about taking. However our guide Harold was a true pleasure and the day just flew by. He was very knowledgeable and his story telling about Icelandic love stories and goblins was incredible - really amusing. We visited 2 waterfalls - one of which you can walk under during the summer months. Also a beach on which were huge diamond like pieces of ice. The most amazing of all was the Glacier Lagoon with its amazing blue glaciers. We also saw a very large sealion who seemed to know people were watching and so gave us a little show. We had many stops on route for breakfast, lunch and diiner. Harold also tried to find the Northern lights for us on our way back. A wonderful day which we would highly recommend.

Great tour! It was a long day bring snacks! but definitely worth it, especially to see the glacier lagoon and the seals there!! and the nearby beach. Sometimes it was hard to understand that guide but he was very enthusiastic and kept the ride lively by telling us Icelandic stories. I wish we had more time at some of the sights and less time at rest stops, but everything was spaced out quite evenly so the ride never felt too long.

The Weather can be a spoil sport but yet the place was beautiful. As it can get really cold and rain at times, so i suggest carry an Umbrella and also wear Proper clothing. As it is a major tourist attraction, you will find lots of people over there. The tour guide stops for 30-40MNTS IN each of these places. The Driver didn't stop at the rock formation, instead he parked in another point at VIK only the Black Sand was visible. Its was a long day but worth it

It was a bit of a strange one. The guide/driver was justifiably upset by one group who talked over him repeatedly during the day while he was offering a commentary. However he took out his frustration on the rest of his passengers who had wanted to listen - the targets of his ire were seemingly completely oblivious that it was them he was referring to! Apart from that it was a long and varied day, taking in 2 different waterfalls, the black volcanic beach at Vik and the Glacier Lagoon itself. If you want to go out on the lagoon in the dukw, you need to pay for the experience separately: it is worth it as you get a much better sense of the scale of the place from being on the water than from walking alongside it. Also whatever the weather may be in Reykjavik you will most definitely need to wrap up warm for that part of the tour. Another unexpected highlight was the sudden procession of Icelandic ponies while we were on the return leg of the journey. It's a long day: we got back at 21:30 pick up was at 7am.
