Golden Circle Classic Day Trip from Reykjavik

Golden Circle Classic Day Trip from Reykjavik

Depart your central Reykjavik hotel or Reykjavik cruise port by air-conditioned coach and venture into Iceland’s starkly beautiful interior of rugged peaks, pastures and volcanic plains.
Make your first stop at Nesjavellir, a power plant in the geothermal region around Lake Thingvallavatn. Take in panoramic views of the plant that harnesses the area’s natural propensity for generating power, and hear how it produces renewable energy for more than half of Reykjavik's population.
Continue from here along the famous Golden Circle, the sightseeing route that showcases three of Iceland’s most spectacular natural wonders.
Stop by at Thingvellir National Park, a region of untouched beauty steeped in ancient history. Learn how it’s home to the original, outdoor site of Iceland’s first parliamentary assembly, the Althingi, that began in 930, and see the extraordinary Thingvellir rift, where the tectonic plates of America and Eurasia face each other over a narrow valley.
Snap photos as your guide explains how the plates are gradually pulling apart, and then continue to the Gullfoss waterfall. Marvel at the double-tiered falls and, with luck, catch sight of one of the famous rainbows that forms in the mists.
Next, visit the incredible geothermal region of Geysir, known for its hot springs and geysers. Take in the bubbling pools and steam vents, and see Strokkur, a waterspout that shoots to around 98 feet (30 meters) in the air.
Your tour then ends back at the original start point in Reykjavik.

Beautiful trip! Fantastic bus ride, knowledgeable and fun guide and beautiful Icelandic landscape and features! It rained the entire day and the beauty was even more spectacular. The green moss, dark stone and purple/yellow/red of the flowers spectacular! Very much recommend this trip.

We persuaded a few of our fellow cruisers to book this trip and so were much relieved when it turned out to be great. Our guide was very informative, though occasionally gave us rather more information than we were looking for. There was a little delay in getting started but once on our way it was fascinating. The countryside was stunning. No meal was included in the trip but our guide gave us a good suggestion about the lamb soup when we did stop. The trip was well priced and well worth the eight hours we were out and about.

With a very experienced tour guide and a friendly and helpful driver, this was a super day out. The guide was very experienced and as my husband has walking difficulties, the guide always saw that we got as much out of the tour as the more able bodied tourists. Exceptional value for money.

This tour operator is easy to work with, helpful, and very very well organised. If you want a trip that takes in the waterfalls at Gulfoss, the geyser atGeysir, some history and wild country around Iceland then this is for you. The tour destinations are always busy, as there are frequently cruise ships in town and Reykjavik is a popular tourist destination. If you don't like crowds consider a big-wheeled 4x4 tour instead, that takes in the geyser and a trip across the glacier and wild country.

This company are an EXCELLENT choice if you wish to go to the Blue Lagoon. You should go it's fantastic.
TOP TIP: If you have an early flight, book your last night at an aiirport hotel. Use this company to book your coach trip to the Blue Lagoon in the afternoon they will pick you up from your hotel, sell you the entry tickets which are timed entry, and also the coach trip from Blue Lagoon to the airport, terminal where you can get a shuttle bus to your airport hotel. The Blue Lagoon are exceptionally well organised and will accommodate all your luggage and make your trip to the pool very easy. The Lava Restaurant is excellent, so book that too Yes it's expensive but worth it in the context of Iceland prices.
