What You Can Expect

Golden Circle Classic Day Trip from Reykjavik

Golden Circle Classic Day Trip from Reykjavik

Depart your central Reykjavik hotel or Reykjavik cruise port by air-conditioned coach and venture into Iceland’s starkly beautiful interior of rugged peaks, pastures and volcanic plains.
Take in panoramic views of the plant that harnesses the area’s natural propensity for generating power, and hear how it produces renewable energy for more than half of Reykjavik's population.
Continue from here along the famous Golden Circle, the sightseeing route that showcases three of Iceland’s most spectacular natural wonders.
Stop by at Thingvellir National Park, a region of untouched beauty steeped in ancient history. Learn how it’s home to the original, outdoor site of Iceland’s first parliamentary assembly, the Althingi, that began in 930, and see the extraordinary Thingvellir rift, where the tectonic plates of America and Eurasia face each other over a narrow valley.
Snap photos as your guide explains how the plates are gradually pulling apart, and then continue to the Gullfoss waterfall. Marvel at the double-tiered falls and, with luck, catch sight of one of the famous rainbows that forms in the mists.
Next, visit the incredible geothermal region of Geysir, known for its hot springs and geysers. Take in the bubbling pools and steam vents, and see Strokkur, a waterspout that shoots to around 98 feet (30 meters) in the air.
Your tour then ends back at the original start point in Reykjavik.

This is a trip we got directed to book through Viator, however it is organized by Gray Line.
Our initial trip got cancelled due to the weather. But if you call them they can change it to a different day or give you full money return. The trip itself was wonderful. Our tour guide Dagmar, was so informative, nice and funny. She was great with individuals and even organized our bus journey back to the airport, with Gray Line, after the trip and made sure we travelled on schedule so we could catch it on time. This made our trip so relaxing, and no one felt rushed, there was plenty of time at all the sites. Bathroom breaks are regular, and there is nice souvenir shops and food at the sites. The bus was clean and the driver excellent.
We went to Gullfoss waterfall, Geyzur geezer, and Thingvellir national park, all beautiful.
Only thing I'd recommend is you ask your hotel to ring the tour company every morning to check if the tour is still on. Due to weather 2 of ours were cancelled and no one told us, leaving us to wait in the cold for an hour.
Also be there on time! if it says 'tour is at 8.30 be there at 8' on your ticket, BE THERE AT 8. we missed our blue lagoon bus as it came 8.15. Luckily we called the company and they reserved us 2 places on the next bus for free.

We only had 1 full day in Iceland as part of an extended layover so we booked this tour so we could try to see as much as possible in a short time. Really enjoyed it! It was a great way to see parts of Iceland with limited time. Highly recommend!

This was an amazing excursion. It was a long day but well worth the trip. We had a wonderful guide who made sure we saw and experienced everything we could. Because the bus was full the guide was able to keep us on track and therefore add some stops on the tour. The Gulfoss falls was simply spectacular. The geyser was soo exciting and waiting for the eruption was fun and powerful. This excursion is a must.

We really enjoyed this tour and the guide was very informative and pleasant. We had plenty of time at each stop . We had snow the day before trip and it made it seem magical especially the falls and the walk through gorge at the tectonic plates in the national park.

Despite the frequent and expected changes in the weather, our guide, Willy, and driver, Palli, did a fantastic job of making it a delightful and interesting experience. Many highlights, great stops at the Thingvellir National Park, Mid-Atlantic Rift, Gullfoss, Geysir, and Skalhott Church. Willy's guide experience kept it all interesting and Palli's expert driving kept us safe and moving through, at times, dreadful weather. Would definitely do again.
