What You Can Expect

Golden Circle Gourmet Food Tasting Tour

Visit the Gullfoss waterfall on this full-day foodie trip

Although Iceland isn’t typically known for its cuisine (yet!), Reykjavik and surrounds are home to a burgeoning foodie scene inspired by the region’s bounty of fresh meats, fish and dairy. Begin your full-day culinary tour with pickup at your Reykjavík hotel, or meet your guide at the centrally located Hafnarstræti, and climb aboard a comfortable coach.
To give your appetite a chance to warm up, make a pit stop at the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Thingvellir National Park. Learn about the geologic and political history of this protected area, which spans two tectonic plates and was the founding site of Iceland’s parliament in 930.
For your first bite of the day, enjoy a hearty, farm-fresh meal at Efstidalur, a modern working farm. Learn about small-scale Icelandic dairy, fish and game industries while savoring specialties produced right on site, such as feta cheese, homemade bread, roast beef and trout caught from the nearby river Útey. Top it off with a taste of a milky drink passed down by the Vikings!
Take some time to digest with a visit to the spectacular Gullfoss waterfall and surrounding volcanic fields dotted with geothermal hot springs and geysers. Make your way to a local greenhouse, where farmers have learned to cultivate Mediterranean vegetables like tomatoes even in the chilly northern climate.
Your final stop is Islenskibærin, a classic Nordic turf house. Settle in to a cozy dining room under the green roof for a sampling of regional favorites like smoked lamb, flatbread, dried fish and pancakes topped with rhubarb jelly.
Your stomach satisfied, relax on the return drive to Reykjavik, where your tour concludes with hotel drop-off in the early evening.

Definitely try this tour out. Great if you are strapped for time and want to have a taste of yummy food and see the Golden Circle. The tour guide was very informative and informed us of the historical importance and background that you cannot get on your own.

Wonderful tour. You see all the classic Circle stops, with a bonus of Icelandic food. We stopped at a dairy farm for lunch, a picturesque greenhouse with amazing tomatoes, and a property with turf houses and scrumptious desserts. Our guide Simon was entertaining and informative. Highly recommend!

This tour was incredible and completely work the cost. Our tour guide Dee Dee was so friendly, knowledgable, helpful, warm and funny, she made the day really special. As a lover of food, this tour was just my thing and it didn't disappoint. A 4 course meal at lunchtime at a family-run farm, followed by sampling and a tour at a tomato farm and then afternoon tea at a traditional museum kept my tummy full. In between the food, we were able to see some of the sights around the Golden Circle including the Golden waterfall and Gieyser and take in the incredible scenery along the trip. I would take this trip all over again.

This tour was great, the Golden Circle sights are awesome. The extra time this tour took meant you actually got to enjoy the sights instead of having a mere twenty minutes at each place like on some tours. And we went to like four other places.
