Fantastic Day Spent Touring the Golden Circle

Definitely recommend this tour if you are in Iceland. Let's start with the tour guide, Jennifer was an excellent guide. She was funny, friendly, knowledgeable and professional. Every single stop on this trip was amazing; the geysers, the waterfall, the crater...seriously, it was a day very well spent

Rough start, but improved as the day went

The sights were absolutely stunning, and the weather was great! Our guides, Beggi and Thora, made the experience even better. My low review actually comes from the difficult pick up process and another tour guide whose name I don’t know. There was quite a bit of confusion among the drivers and guides. One guide was incredibly rude and made us wait in the rain while they discussed things. Beggi rescued us from that grumpy man and allowed us back on his bus for the rest of the day, and I am so grateful. We saw the other bus driver at several of the stops, and he was unkind at every single one. Beggi and Thora truly saved my opinion of the company. They were so happy and kind. They worked hard to make sure we had a good experience after the rough start to the morning.

We thoroughly enjoyed our Golden Circle Day trip with Begga! His winning personality added to the experience. Begga was personable and interacted with each passenger in a friendly manner. His stories (and even his singing!) were well told and interesting. And his humor added to the stories. A very nice trip, well organised. The geysers, Kerid, the Gulfoss waterfall, and even the Thingvellir national park, all things were great and wonderful. The weather was not with us that day, we were freezing due to that rain and that wind, but well, it is what it is. I just regret that we stayed too little in the Thingvellir national park in my opinion (at least 1 h would be good), otherwise everything was good. On a side note, due to the fact that each of these places are among the most touristic places in the country, it was full of people.

Great experienced tour guide (Beggi) and driver (Ati), more than made up for a shaky start when we were picked up by a plain bus (email said BusTravel Iceland), which didn't start, then couldn't close the external door. Once we got on our actual bus, Beggi broke the tension with some humour and team building before starting off entertaining us with his amazing knowledge of the area. The weather was horrendous, but again Beggi guided us to everything we needed to see the best way possible. It's Iceleand, so don't expect sunshine! ("Wait 5 mins!"). Plenty of time for food, toilet and rest stops. A great day with good memories made.

I really enjoyed the crater the most but I liked all of the stops. I was happy to go to some of the shopping centers as well because i found some nice icelandic souvenirs. Even though the weather wasn't the best, we were able to see everything and Jo made the experience really fun. She kept us entertained and on time during the tour.

Golden circle tour with entertaining guide and driver

After panicking that we might have missed our 9am shuttle to join our coach tour everything worked out great. We were waiting at 8.15am but weren’t picked up until after 9am. We joined the tour a few kilometres outside of Reykjavik but the coach was packed and we couldn’t sit together for some of the trip. We didn’t know exactly what to expect from the tour and it along with the driver and guide surpassed our expectations. We visited The Kerid crater, Gullfoss, Geysir and finally Thingvellir National park. On the way we were treated to a comprehensive, lighthearted and informative narrative of what to expect and avoid on the journey. There were plenty of opportunities for asking questions, photography, walking, food, drink and rest stops. We were out and about for around 8 hours in all but it did not seem like that and were returned to the stop nearest our hotel by 6pm.

All very impressive. However if I had known that I was part of a 60 person coach tour, I would have booked elsewhere. Packed in like sardines. I was aiming for a small party tour.

Day out in Iceland

The crater, geyser and waterfall where all extremely impressive. The day started by picking up from various locations so took probably an hour before we got properly going. The tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and gave us updates continuously throughout the day (Chiara I think her name was). First stop was the crater - which was impressive to say the least - the colours were so impressive. Be careful though it does have loose stones so you can slip if you don’t take it slowly. We then headed to the waterfall. There were not too many people there, which was good as I think it might be a bit chaotic if there are a lot of people about. The photos I have seen do not give this place justice. It is amazing. The power of the falls just left us in awe. Be warned though it is cold as the glacier is not too far away. Seeing that from a distance was so cool. Only wished I had booked a trip to see that! We then moved on to the Geyser and I was lucky enough to get the big jet - don’t worry if you miss one it takes between 5-7 minutes between each one so you will see it. The food and drinks in the cafe were appreciated as we were getting a bit hungry by then - the costs seemed to be in line with the rest of the island. Our attitude was don’t convert! We didn’t take the time to do the big walk around, but I would expect that would have been worthwhile if you have the time. We then headed towards the next stop (the National park). The views were sooo impressive, the force of nature in being able to split the rock where the two plates meet is just unbelievable. It has to be seen to be believed. We took a walk to the law rock and managed to get some really cool photos of the surrounding countryside. We did make an unscheduled stop at a farm and saw the first lamb of the season and also black triplets who were no more than 10 minutes old. It was a full day with lots to see and do and we considered it well worth the money. Would definitely do it again!

The guide Gary was fantastic and had a great sense of humor. They need to hire more guys like him. Awesome job with descriptions and knowledge of everywhere we went. We even had time to add 2 smaller stops that weren't in the original route. I would deffinately go with these guys again!!
