Go deep into a world of blue ice and frozen tunnels on a full-day tour from Reykjavík to the man made Ice Cap Glacier on Langjökull. Start the day at the steaming Deildartunguhver hot spring, then see the lacy, scenic waterfalls at Hraunfossar. Rumble through ice caves in an 8-wheel monster truck, then continue on foot into caves lit by vivid LED lights. Listen to the sounds of creaking ice and dripping water, then return to the surface and relax on a comfortable bus for the trip back to Reykjavík.
10-hour tour from Reykjavík to hot springs, waterfalls and a glacier
Experience the volcanic and frozen landscapes of Iceland
This was hands down our favorite tour! It's the one we always mentions when friends/family ask us how our trip to Iceland was. So incredibly cool to be able to go into an actual ice cave and the tour guide who's brother helped tunnel out the caves was incredibly knowledgeable about the whole excavation process. It's fairly deep and a very cool experience. Our driver Snowman for the trip was by far our favorite as well. Told us a lot of fun facts about the culture and people of Iceland and was very personable and funny. Highly recommend.
This was a small bus tour, and it made all the difference - with only 17-20 people on the tour, we got to see more and spend more time at the sites we visited. The Ice Cave is a man made cave within the heart of a glacier - it sounds corny, but it was actually quite beautiful and our guide, Thor, was fantastic. We also got to visit several waterfalls and a few other sites. Lunch options were limited and priced for tourists, but if you can pack your own meal ahead of time - you can bring it on the bus. Also, this is a great tour to do even when the weather is bad, as it doesn't affect the inside of the cave - although it would dampen the other sites we visited.
The experience into the ice cave was great experience but the tour itself was unorganized. The day started with the tour bus leaving our hotel pick up location without picking us up. We had to call up the company and were told to call a different company who was in charge of it. Very unorganized!!!!
This tour was amazing and I would highly recommend it to anyone wanting to visit the glaciers. The main tour was lead by Fannar and he was very knowledgeable and was good company. He made us laugh while still being very informative throughout the tour. He even took us on an extra special stop because we had extra time! You will have to take the tour to find out where that stop was. But if he takes you there, you won't be disappointed. For the ice cave part we had an incredible guide named Sophia who is a professional musician in Iceland. She sang us an Icelandic hymn in the chapel and it sounded beautiful. She was also very informative and was a great guide.
