Select a departure time and pre-book your admission (own expense) to the Blue Lagoon. The lagoon is very popular, so it’s important to book ahead to ensure access.
Then, settle inside your private vehicle and enjoy the roughly 45-minute journey to the lagoon on Iceland’s Reykjanes peninsula. On arrival, shower and then change into your bathing suit. Private lockers are available, and bathing suits, robes and towels are offered for rent.
Plan to spend about two hours at the lagoon. Swim in the soothing waters, kept at about 96 to 102 degrees Fahrenheit (36-39 degrees Celsius), and enjoy a sauna, steam bath or silica face mask if you wish. You can add spa or massage sessions for an additional cost.
The waters are reputedly beneficial to the skin, and contain algae, minerals and silica — the latter accounting for their milky turquoise color. If you’re hungry, there’s an on-site café where you can purchase snacks and drinks, and a swim-up bar offering cocktails, beers and wines (own expense).
After two hours, hop back inside your private vehicle for a convenient ride back to your Reykjavik hotel or the port.
Please note: this trip is only available during Blue Lagoon opening hours.
