It was great! Perfect for a quick boat ride tour... definitely a family tour.
Did this on our last day. Was surprised to see so many Puffins. They were everywhere. Perfect timing for us. I highly recommend if you are interested in seeing Puffins.
Fun trip, cool to get on water and see the puffins. A bit far from the coast so sometimes hard to see when they are on land but for the cost, and something different good value. Tour guides and captain welcoming, very nice, and informative.
We went our first day in Iceland. The guide and pilot were very informative. We saw loads of puffins and learned about their habits. The small group on the small boat made it our least crowded experience in Iceland.

Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and passionate about puffins. He told us facts the whole trip. When we got to the island, there were many puffins flying around, getting fish, and hanging out on the island. I got GREAT pictures of them! I would highly recommend this tour. They even picked us up at our hotel and drove us to the harbor.

Excellent boat trip with a knowledgeable guide. A must-do!
This was a small boat that carries a small group, which is what we preferred. They have interior seating to shield from potential rain or cold wind. The staff was friendly and very knowledgeable. We were able to get close to Aukrey Island, but apparently not as close as possible. This was just due to the waves. Regardless, you need to have a good camera if you want close up photos of the puffins. The puffins are easy to see, and they provide you with binoculars. It is recommended to go early in the morning.
It was perfect timing for us, since the birds arrived in early May, and we were there in late May. We saw hundreds of them. No photos, because even though we got very close to the island, you need a really good telephoto lens to get good shots. Georg, our guide, was amazing. Very knowledgeable. Wear layers, and be prepared for cold and wind. I had gloves, but neglected to bring a hat or headband, so got cold ears. The binoculars they carry on board are great--- could really see those cute birds well.

I highly recommend this tour to anyone who hasn't ever seen a puffin and loves birds. The ship is not very big, but the captain is marvelous. As I make lots of photography , and I love birding photography we thought this tour would be our first approach to puffins. You don't get too close to them, and they are very small in size, but on the small islands you approach you may also see elders, fulmar, and some canadian geese as well. Getting a view of Riekjavik from the see was also very interesting.
We saw lots of puffins and our guide--a young lady from Spain who really knows her puffins--and the captain entertain the passengers, making the trip that much more enjoyable.
Vera Wonder was a great tour leader! Very well informed. We saw lots of Puffins. My disappointment of not getting good photographs was not under their control. The boat captain did his very best.
Loved it! I would definitely recommend if you're a puffin fan. : We went during the middle of May, which was peak puffin season. We saw so many puffins on the island and floating on the water. You'll definitely need a camera with good zoom. It was lightly raining with high winds when we went. As a result, the water/boat ride was pretty rough. The captain was very capable and did his best to keep the ride smooth. However be wary of weather if you get motion sickness. While I was fine as well as most of the other passengers, my friend was turning green towards the end of the tour.
We went in May at the beginning of the puffin season and we still saw plenty of birds. Some would get fairly close - if you want to take good photos I would recommend bringing a good camera. I did get some video on my phone as well. Otherwise, it was a very enjoyable trip to just watch all the wildlife. The tour is only an hour long so it was a great way to see Reykjavik from the water and enjoy the wildlife within a limited time frame. The boat gets fairly close to the island. The guide was very knowledgeable and friendly as well. If you have limited time or want to do other things during the day but still want a quick wildlife experience I would recommend this tour.
Simply amazing, only an hour, but we saw hundreds of puffins. Bring binoculars and a telephoto lens.
Interesting trip. The guide was very knowledgeable about puffins.
We really enjoyed this tour. The boat was nice. It is important to bring a camera with a zoom lens. You won't get pictures off your iPhone. We bought one just for this trip and got amazing pictures of Puffins. It is not Puffin season right now...but they will be back in May-August.
The absolute highlight of our stopover in Iceland! The little islands where the puffins were was not far from the mainland, so we were able to get there quickly and see the little guys. And we didn't see one or two - oh no! There were DOZENS of these cuties! We had a guide on the boat who told us about the area, and about the puffins - he was excellent. LOVED this tour and would do it again!
We had a beautiful day on the water on our first day. Those puffins just to see them in flight was a hoot.
A great little cruise and puffins to boot. Well worth it. We lucked out as they were leaving in droves just days later, having hatched and grown their young.
The only thing that would have been better would have been to actually go on the island with them.
It was at the end of puffin season and we were still lucky enough to see a few! Crew was great and provided interesting facts. Highly recommend!
This was a cheap, short trip that gave us the chance to see a LOT of puffins up close. The boat ride was pretty good, even though the water was kinda choppy so be careful if you get seasick, and we were able to get really close to the island were all the puffin had their nests.
We also had binoculars in the boat that we could use to see them up close.
If you are thinking about taking pictures, I would recommend a camera with a very good zoom since the puffins are kinda small and wide angle lenses don't really capture the details.
