What You Can Expect

Reykjanes Peninsula and Blue Lagoon Day Trip from Reykjavik

Thermal pools, Blue Lagoon

Leave Reyjavik in the morning by air-conditioned coach and journey southwest to your first destination, the starkly beautiful Reykjanes Peninsula.
As you travel, enjoy the views of the lunar-like, barren landscapes and hear about the geology of Reykjanes from your guide. Learn how most of the peninsula is covered by lava fields and sprinkled with volcanic formations, black sand beaches and hot springs.
Stop to view mud springs, lava combs and craters, and see the ridge caused by the slowly diverging American and Eurasian tectonic plates that makes up some of the headland’s scenery. Continue to the lighthouse that keeps a solitary vigil at the peninsula's western tip. Hop out of your coach to admire the views from this remote spit of land and glimpse some of the area’s incredible birdlife.
Gaze out over Eldey, a bare rock island just off the coast that's home to one of the Atlantic Ocean’s largest colonies of gannets. Watch the waves crashing against the island’s basalt cliffs and look for the nesting gannets with pointers from your guide.

After taking in Rekyjanes’ scenery, continue to its most popular attraction — the Blue Lagoon. Surrounded by a black basalt plateau, this fairy tale-like, bath-warm thermal pool boasts a mix of rich mineral waters and seawater.
On arrival, enjoy several hours to relax, either bathing in the therapeutic waters or indulging in the various spa treatments (additional cost) on offer. If you choose the standard bathing experience, the visitor pass and entrance free is included in your tour cost.
After time to enjoy the lagoon, enjoy a transfer back to either Reykjavik or Reykjavik-Keflavik Airport — your choice — at your selected departure time from those available.
Please note: the Blue Lagoon will be closed from January 5-11, 2016.

This was one of my favorite excursions! The scenery and stops on the Reykjanes Peninsula were spectacular! Walking between the tectonic plates was an awesome experience! Our guide was great and very informative about all the areas we visited. The blue lagoon was very relaxing and a must to visit if you go Iceland. I read a lot of reviews that said it was very crowded, but it is so large it did not seem that crowded to anyone in our group. I highly recommend this tour, we all loved it!

I like landscape, so the morning tour is fantastic. Apart from landscape, I can see a lot of birds. For the afternoon tour to blue lagoon, they offered very flexible pick up time for leaving the place. To me, blue lagoon is too commercial. So I make use of the flexibility and leave early.

Blue Lagoon is amazing and thoroughly recommend. Shame that Gray line only booked 2 tickets rather than the 3 we paid for. Thankfully the wonderful staff at Blue Lagoon made sure we got in.

A fantastic day! The guided tour was interesting and took us to some stunning places. The scenery is unlike anything we'd seen before. Then on to the Blue Lagoon, which is the most amazing place. It's fairly pricey, but well worth it. We also had massages, which I would highly recommend!!
