What You Can Expect

Meet your guide and tour group at What's On tourist information at Laugavegur 5 in central downtown Reykjavik.

Make your first stop at the Hallgrímskirkja Church itself, where you'll climb to the top of the bell tower. Get out your camera to capture incredible views over the red rooftops of the city and Faxaflói Bay beyond. Get an introduction to the city while you catch your breath and enjoy the scenery.

Continue to Einar Jónsson's statue garden, where your guide will delve into some of the myths and legends of the Norse gods. Walk through the lanes of Thingholt (Þingholt) toward Reykjavik City Pond. Feed ducks, geese and swans that reside there, a small pocket of nature in the middle of the city.

Get a primer on Iceland's volcanology and geology as you contemplate the giant topographical map of the country outside city hall. Walk past Reykjavik's cathedral, the parliament and the site of the city's very first houses.

Stroll by the Old Harbour toward the Harpa Concert Hall. Stop at the Sólfar sculpture to admire views over the bay and Mt Esja.

Your walking tour finishes there after 3 hours.

Our guide was great at sharing the history and culture of the Icelandic people. We met at the church and finished at the waterfront. The pacing was leisurely and he'd pause regularly to answer any and all questions.I t was a great thing to do the day we arrived to get oriented to the city and also to pick his brain about restaurants/eateries to take advantage of during our stay..

I loved this walking tour, the guide was so much fun. The weather was really cold and windy but our guide made sure we had some 'inside' stops to refuel and get a coffee. He took us across the city center and provided very thoughtful commentary along the way with some fabulous Icelandic dry humour. I highly recommend this tour as it shows you parts of the town you may miss if you were to do it on your own.

Our guide was very patient and keen on Icelandic history and key point that are relevant to today's issues climate, ecology, conservation, social, arts, and political issues. He was very kind stopping several times to accommodate the pacing of my aunt who just had femoral surgery a year ago. He was just a wealth of information that gave us a unique insight into a typical Icelandic day - for babies, kids, and adults. If you want to learn about the non-touristy facts that make Iceland what it is today...join this tour. This is not your run of the mill tour that you can read in the web...

We actually went out and followed his advice to dine at the Place with No Name for pizza! Awesome!

I'd go out with him again!
