Reykjavik Shore Excursion: Whale Watching and Blue Lagoon

Combine two of Iceland’s best activities into one fun-filled shore excursion, as you go whale-watching and visit the country’s famous Blue Lagoon. This combination of nature watching and a hot springs visit covers two of Iceland’s most iconic activities, enjoyed by locals and visitors alike.

Passengers will be picked up from their hotel or cruise port and transported by bus to the whale watching harbour. Head first out into Faxafloi Bay, as you search the waters for the wealth of marine life that inhabits the area. Among the creatures you might spot are harbor porpoises, minke whales, humpback whales, and white-beaked dolphins, all of which are common sights in the area. Many sea birds, including puffins, arctic terns, gulls and gannets, are also frequent visitors.

Finish your whale-watching trip and head directly to the renowned Blue Lagoon for some soaking in its mineral-laden hot waters. The facility offers a wealth of different ways to relax. Jump in the geothermal steam bath, take a soak in the Lagoon’s milky-blue waters, or pound out your muscle aches under one of the nearby waterfalls that flow into the main pool. For an extra-indulgent experience, set yourself up with a spa visit or outdoor massage.

Return times from the Blue Lagoon to Reykjavik are available on the hour, every hour.

Worry-free Shore Excursion: We will ensure your timely return to the Reykjavik port for this activity. In the rare event your ship has departed, we will arrange for transportation to the next port-of-call. If your ship is delayed and you are unable to attend this activity, your money will be refunded. Possibly the most incredible experience of my life. The whale watching was the coldest I've ever been - even with hundreds of layers on! But it was just breahtaking watching humpback whales and porpoises off the coast of Reykjavik. Don't waste your time trying to get photos - your hands will be too cold and too wet. Just absorb the experience. The secret lagoon was great, too. Very commercial and a tourist hot-spot, but worth visiting. We loved sitting in the warm waters together drinking Skyr smoothies. Would recommend visiting the Secret Lagoon, too. Loved the Secret Lagoon even more!

We had a great time. We saw three of the whale species that swim in the bay we sailed to and many different kinds of North Atlantic birds. The Blue Lagoon was also very enjoyable.

This trour was a major highlight of our 14-day cruise. It was a true adventure being out in a boat on the chilly Icelandic seas, but we were protected by our weatherproof jumpsuits provided on board. We didn't see whales but spotted porpoises and dolphins. The blue lagoon was another breath taking adventure although our ship departure time prevented us from a longer visit. I'd recommend this tour to anyone looking for a memorable time in Iceland.
