The entire trip was wonderful. It was a relatively small group, which we like. Our guide Ronald was the best and knew some additional places to take us to while on the way to the scheduled ones. Perfece timing for everything including lunch and dinner. On the way back he noticed the Northern Lights and gave us the opportunity to take it all in at one stop and then at another where there was a waterfall that was lit at night. Truly spectacular
Our Excursion was memorable, and we had the best weather ever! Our guide was the mose gracious host ever! We're sorry we had to go home!
Absolutely amazing, in one day we saw more than I could have hoped for. Excellent driver, knowledgeable and eager to answer all of our questions. Small group, had plenty of time everywhere. I highly recommend this tour!
Service was great with Special Tours. Unfortunately we only saw two whales at a distance and puffins at a distance as well. That's the way nature rolls. It was a good experience and I would recommend it, but don't get upset if that day you can't get up close and personal.
This tour was amazing!
Long day but well worth it.
Great tour - the lagoon was beautiful and the guide was very good. Lots of stops along the way with plenty to do and see. Went in the winter so did not get the boat ride, but I don't feel like I missed out
We got to see a lot of things, however, the day was very long and mostly driving. If you have the time and don't mind being in the car for about 12 hours of driving, it is a great trip!
This was a wonderful overview of the south coast area of Iceland. I wondered how they'd fit all that in in a day my plotting of driving it added up to 2 days no matter how I played with the stops. Turns out, it was NOT just a 14 hr trip! We were away from our hotel for 17 hrs so prepare yourself to be out there almost as long as there is daylight and there's a lot of daylight here this time of year. That being said, we saw so many wonderful things. Definitely value for the money! Unless you don't do the boat trip like my friend who gets seasick. She stayed onshore and was bored for 1 1/2 hrs :
I had not planned to go to the Jokulsarlon Lagoon when I booked my trip, or I would have made provisions to stay overnight in South Iceland. After seeing breathtaking photos of it, I was determined to go even though I knew it was a 14 hour trip. Our guide took us to several other glacier tongues, we stopped at the waterfall you can walk behind and a black sand beach with basalt columns where the puffin perch. All were great and the Glacier Lagoon itself was otherworldly. We had simple truck stop type meals, near Vik for lunch and at the black sand beach for dinner. Our tour started at 8:00 am and we were delivered back to our hotel at 11:00pm, so it was a 15 hour day. The ride in the bus was too long and we had to skip some sites due to the length of the tour! The lagoon and South Iceland is worth seeing, but you really have to decide if you can stand to sit on a bus for such a long stretch, if you do this tour in one day.
