One of the best experiences in my life. The glacier hike was amazing and the waterfalls and black sand beach are sights that never get old to look at
This is a must do when you are in Iceland. You will experience and see things on this tour that you will never see anywhere else. The glacier hike was the highlight for us. Our guides were terrific and the experience breathtaking. Everything from pick up to drop iff was well organized and we were treated to a day of fun and adventure with our experienced guides.
I want to return and brig my boys with me so they can experience it for themselves...already been back 2 weeks and still sing about it!
Great tour guide and fantastic views! This was a great trip and we were able to learn a lot about the history and culture of Iceland through our tour guide. A must-do adventure!
This was a great tour! Some suggestions on the poor description online:
1 We only drove past the volcanoes 5KN away, and at no point had intentions on getting closer. I wouldn't include this in the name of the tour but rather keep it as a description in What you can expect.
2 Food is not included, however, there is a rest stop that has coffee/food. As well this is a restaurant at the black sand beach. Do bring cash in the event the c/c machines are down. We had this issue but fortunately stopped at a local Bonus grocer and made our own sandwiches for the trip.
3 The Glacier was AMAZING. Nowhere in the description does it truly explain what you will be doing. This was by far the best part of the trip. You will have the opportunity to put on a pair of crampons, helmet and harness and hike up the glacier with your tour guide.
4 I would recommend bringing snow pants, if you have them, as well as a pair of dry socks. I would also avoid wearing jeans in the event they get wet.
This was one of the best excursions I had ever taken. It was a tour of the southern coast. Our guide, Willy, was great about stopping and giving us information, answering questions, and making suggestions of what to do after the trip was over. He knew the country well and gave some great insight. The glacier hike was beautiful and the waterfall visits were quick but breath taking. A good trip for those that are either alone or in a small group because it was a smaller tour than you might get from other companies. I can't say enough good things about Grey Lines and am looking forward to taking more of their guided tours in the future if I make it back to Iceland.
Fantastic tour. Especially the glacier hiking. Totally awesome.
Wonderful day trip! The guide was very knowledgeable and pleasant. The waterfalls were beautiful and you were able to hike up close to them. Especially enjoyed the black-sand beach of Reynisfjara since the Puffins were still there, the tide low enough so you could go into the caves, and the rock stacks along the beach absolutely amazing. But the highlight for me was the glacier hike. This is a definite must to see before they disappear! I definitely recommend this tour.
This was an amazing tour! The tour guides were very knowledgeable and they gave us lots of good information about Iceland and it's history. The glacier hike was the highlight of my entire trip.
This tour was great. The waterfalls were beautiful only to be surpassed by the black sand beach. The tour guide was friendly and educated us about the history of the area. Everyone should take this tour.

My favorite excursion! I loved this trip! The tour showcased the natural wonders of the South Coast covering waterfalls, volcanoes, and glaciers all in one trip. After hotel pick up, we were transferred to a mountain 4X4 bus at the tour depot. Skogafoss was my personal favorite waterfall. I felt the power and misty spray of the waterfall as I approached the base. There is also a path up to a viewing platform above the falls. You wont have time to do both platform and base of the falls. I recommend just walking up to the base. The experience and pictures will be more amazing. Eyjafjallajökull and Hekla were left to our imagination as they hid behind a mast of clouds on our journey to South Iceland. Next was Reynisfjara - the black sand beach and basalt columns were quite a phenomenon to behold. Found some pebbles to take with me. Lunch was @ Black Beach Café - serving sandwiches and soup. Try the lamb soup!
The highlight of the trip: the 2 hr hike on Sólheimajökull glacier. We met our hike guide at the base of the glacier, where we got our equipment: helmets, harness, pick axe, and crampons. If you dont have proper hiking shoes, you can rent them for a small fee. Weather was ever-changing with spots of rain and clouds on the glacier. Our hike guide was very nice, funny, informative, responsible, patient, and always made sure our group was together and safe. He did an excellent job. We stopped at a few plateaus for photos and glacier info. We even got a taste of actual glacier water! Dress in warm layers hooded waterproof jacket, waterproof pants. This is not the right tour for you if you have problems with balance, difficulty walking or movement. The glacier hike has some steep slopes and requires control.
Seljalandsfoss was another beautiful waterfall stop on the way back. You can walk behind it for a different view. BTW, there are no gift shops on this tour, just a tiny one at Seljalandsfoss FYI - Reykjavik city prices were cheaper. This was the best trip ever!!
It was fantastic , our guide was great . I will come back and do it again.
Great tour stops. The glacier walk with Helga geologist was fabulous. Ask for Hallie sp who was our overall tour guide. Very knowledgable and accommodating.
Everything was as advertised. Buses, guide, stops were all excellent. We will recommend Viator to all that travel this way. Thank you.
The glacier walk is amazing also pretty intense, lasted for couple of hours so be ready for some exercise. The waterfalls are pretty
Our guide was very knowledgeable of the history of his country. He kept us all informed and educated along the trip. The guide on the glacier was wonderful! He helped me overcome my fears so I was able to climb a glacier for the first time at near 60 years of age!
Fabulous experience. I surprised myself that I did the hike. A once in a lifetime thing to do
Incredible tour and experience. The waterfalls we saw on this tour were two of the best in all of Iceland. The glacier walk experience lasted a couple hours and was an amazing adventure. I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Iceland.
Excellent tour with one of the most knowledgeable and interesting guides ever. There was no answer to a question he did not know. Very informative and pleasant day.
outstanding! well organized and the tour guide on the glacier was well informed and trained to take care of us novices on the trek.
INCREDIBLE DAY!! Our bus driver was so great!!! He told us so many amazing stories about Iceland that we NEVER would have been able to hear had we driven ourselves. He basically knew everyone in every home, on every farm along our drive. I could have listened to him all day. The bus was comfortable as well.
On this tour, you see a waterfall, then you go to black sand beaches with basalt columns. At this stop there is a restaurant you can stop at with some really good lunch food options. Then you go on a glacier hike, which was INCREDIBLE!!! You wear crampons on your shoes you do a 2 hour hike up and down a glacier. You get to see some amazing scenery from the top, and you get to drink actual glacier water from the melting ice. It's amazing. Then you go to 2 more waterfalls, then home. I highly recommend water proof pants and jacket for the glacier hike and for walking behind the waterfalls. ALso, bring snacks!!
Great tour. We got the monster bus which went near the glacier. Guided walk on the glacier was great. Would definitely recommend this .
Highly recommend this wonderful tour! Loved the glacier hike and amazing waterfalls.
