Overview

The iconic peaks of Corcovado and Sugar Loaf Mountain are the top picks for hiking in Rio de Janeiro, but some of the most spectacular views can be found away from the tourist crowds. This 5-hour hiking and cycling adventure includes a bike ride along Copacabana beach, a drive through the colorful Vidigal favela, and a thrilling hike to the top of the Two Brothers Hills, from where the views span Ipanema beach, the Tijuca Forest, and the Christ the Redeemer statue.
  • 5-hour biking and hiking tour of Two Brothers Hills from Rio de Janeiro
  • Pedal along the seafront promenade of Copacabana beach
  • Get a glimpse of life in the Vidigal favela as you drive into the hills
  • Enjoy a guided hike to the summit of the Two Brothers Hills
  • Marvel at views of Tijuca forest, the Christ the Redeemer statue, and Sao Conrado beach
  • Easy to moderate level hike suitable for hikers with some experience
  • Small-group tour limited to four people ensures a personalized experience
Meet your guide and small group of no more than four people at Copacabana beach and saddle up for a scenic bike ride along the seafront. Admire the ocean views as you pedal past the busy main beach, then glide along the white sands of Ipanema Beach, stopping to pose for photos along the way.
At the western end of the beach, leave your bikes and hop in a taxi for a ride through the hillside favelas to reach the starting point of your hike. Listen as your guide explains the difficulties of life in the favelas as you wind through the ramshackle buildings of the Vidigal favela, and hear how it became one of the city’s ‘pacified’ favelas.
Arrive at the very top of the favela, with the peaks of the Two Brothers looming overhead, and set out on the route to the summit. Accompanied by your guide, enjoy an around 2-hour round-trip hike to the top, following lush forest trails and perhaps spotting wildlife such as monkeys and tropical birds along the way. Pause to admire the spectacular views at the summit, which span the entire city, including the Tijuca forest, the Rocinha favela, and Sao Conrado beach. From your high vantage point, see if you can spot Rio landmarks such as the Christ the Redeemer Statue, perched high atop Corcovado mountain.
After hiking back down the hill and passing through the favela, pick up your bikes and cycle back to your starting point at Copacabana beach, where your tour ends.

The tour itself was really good and includes a little walk through a favella. It was especially good on a rainy day, great cooling hiking up the 2 brothers! Jacq, our tour leader, was enthusiastic, knowledgable, great fun and really helpful - she turned the trip from great to outstanding :-)

Really good fun to ride the bikes along the Copacabana and Ipenema beaches and then to switch to the motor bikes for the first part of the ascent . The trek is easy enough but do wear shoes with a good tread as it can be slippy. The views were amazing on the way up and at the top ....360 degrees. Jacqueline our guide was excellent and we had a good laugh with her, she was very friendly and relaxed. Afterwards we all went for lunch sharing our pictures and experiences. A lovely end to a great trip. Thank you !

Amazing tour! I enjoyed biking so much , the tour guide was so helpful and friendly. He was on time and it turned out to be a private tour so we took both bicycles and started biking along Copacabana , Ipanema and leblon beaches as well and then went through a favela where I was able to see the other side of Rio de janeiro and then we started hiking and we saw on the way some monkeys and took great pictures . It was really unforgettable and not to be missed. :

Jacqueline was an amazing tour guide. She knew a lot about the city and was really nice. We could pace the hike as we wish. Thanks again!

This was a very good experience, except for the rain and cloudy conditions. The bike ride was so nice along the beach and then we got on motorcycles and rode to the beginning of the hiking trail. The trail was not difficult to navigate most of the time, but it did go on for a very long time and all uphill. I am in pretty good shape for my age 60 ish but I was winded and needing to take breaks several times on the way up. I was glad I decided to wear my tennis shoes instead of my walking shoes because of the grip. When we got to the top, it was too cloudy to really see anything, but it was still a great feeling to get there. The way down was easier but then we had to walk miles it seemed through the favela to get back to the bikes. Although it was an amazing experience, it was hard on the legs and feet walking downhill for so long. The bike trip back was nice except for the rain. Be prepared for a lot of walking and wear good gripping shoes.

This was the highlight of our entire trip! Our guide, Gabriel, was knowledgeable, helpful and fun to be around. The motorcycle ride through the favelas to the start of the trail was one of the most memorable parts of our entire trip to Rio for 12 days! The view from Dois Irmaos was absolutely incredible. And the best part was that it wasn't crowded like Pao de Azucar or Corcovado. Loved every bit of this tour!

Our guide was excellent, very good personality and energy. The hike was slightly harder than moderate but totally worth it once at the top. The motorcycle taxi was great fun, and walking back through the favela was my one chance to see how many Brazilians really live. A great day!
