Hit all of Rio's highlights in the afternoon on this 4-hour tour that doesn't require an early wakeup. Board a minivan with your local guide and travel to the peak of Corcovado Mountain to view the Christ the Redeemer statue up close. Opt to upgrade your experience and hop on the cable car to the top of Sugar Loaf Mountain. Bring your camera to capture the panoramic views from the city's high point as the sun sets. Round-trip transportation from most hotels in southern Rio de Janeiro is included.
After enjoying a leisurely morning in Rio, climb aboard a minivan at your hotel in the afternoon, meet your guide, and get on the road to Corcovado Mountain.
When you reach your destination, lace up your shoes for the 220-step climb or opt for the less sweaty route by riding the elevator. At the 2,300-foot (700-meter) summit, find yourself in the presence of the iconic Christ the Redeemer statue. Listen as your guide explains the history of the statue, constructed in 1931 from concrete and sandstone and named one of the Seven Wonders of the World in 2007. The statue's armspan is 98 feet (30 meters,) and it stands 130 feet (39 meters) tall. Spend half an hour admiring the statue and taking photos of the panoramic views of Rio. Return to your Rio hotel for drop-off, unless you opt to upgrade to the Sugar Loaf Mountain Sunset Tour.
Sugar Loaf Mountain Sunset Tour Upgrade:
Take this tour to settle the age-old argument between the Rio locals: whether Corcovado or Sugar Loaf offers better sunset views.
Leaving Christ the Redeemer atop Corcovado in your minivan, take a half-hour ride towards the Atlantic Ocean. Board a glassed-in cable car for to ascent to the peak, stopping once at a scenic viewpoint. Upon reaching the top of Sugar Loaf at 1,299 feet (396 meters) above sea level, admire the views of Niteroi, Copacabana and Santa Cruz Fortress.
After watching the sun sink below the horizon line, descend in the cable car and climb back aboard your van for drop-off at your Rio hotel.
Enjoyable trip to Corcovado. Unfortunately a foggy day but a once in a lifetime experience.
It was a great tour. Our tour guide Vincent was excellent. Best views and a fantastic experience.
Great way to see both attractions. We didn't quite make the sunset, but had a wonderful full moon that evening. Pick up and drop off was seamless. And our guide and driver were both friendly and helpful in answering any questions.
Tour guide was great, weather not so much. All in all, had a great experience with fun people who also happened to be from California! Yayyyy to English speaking people on my last day. We got same great pics with Christ oh mighty, even though he was hiding behind the rain and fog. Highly recommended!
Carmen and Lino were very helpful.
The price, what is available at 60 USD was charged 160 USD by Viator. Its a standard package and didn't offer anything different then a dime a dozen tours available through the hotel at a far far lesser cost.
