Ride a bicycle through Rio de Janeiro on this 3-hour sightseeing tour. Follow your local guide down paved paths for a leisurely ride from Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon to the Leblon and Ipanema beaches. Ride through Rio's most fashionable neighborhoods and get a glimpse of where and how residents of Rio spend their free time. Enjoy views of the city skyline, the local beaches and the Cristo Redentor (Christ the Redeemer) statue atop Corcovado Mountain.
Make your way to Rio's famous Ipanema Beach to meet your local tour guide and the rest of your group. After a brief orientation, choose your bike and set off along the tile path that lines the beach, heading towards Morro Dois Irmãos (Two Brothers Hill).
Pass Jardim de Alah (Allah's Garden) and continue pedaling along the canal that separates Leblon and Ipanema beaches. Follow your guide to Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas (Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon), a large lake surrounded by Rio's most prestigious neighborhoods; Jardim Botânico, Gávea, Leblon and Lagoa. Pedal among local Rio residents enjoying leisure time and activities, like rowing in the lagoon, in this popular area.
Take the circular path around the lagoon, which runs for 4.4 miles (7.2 kilometers) past sports complexes and parks. Stop along the way to hear a brief history of Rio's reigning sport, futebol (soccer) and the city's various clubs.
View the Cristo Redentor (Christ the Redeemer) statue atop Corcovado Mountain looking over the city. Snap some photos of the spectacular views from this spot, then hop back on your bike and pedal back to your starting point.
Great way to see the city and get some exercise. The tour is run by 2 local chaps who were relaxed and friendly and made us feel very welcome, and we're more than happy to take photos of the 2 of us...even when cycling! Definitely do this tour!!
Upon arrival and calling to confirm we were told then and only then, not before at any time by email, that the tour provider was unable to fulfill the tour. It would have been extremely helpful to us to have known this in advance. We did rearrange our schedule and did a 9 am bike ride on a different beach and were told by the guide that he would have been the same provider for the 3 pm tour but he had never been contacted to provide that service. Somewhere there is a disconnect with the middleman here
