Get a behind-the-scenes look at Maracanã Stadium during this small-group tour. During this 4-hour opportunity to explore the stadium, renovated for the 2014 FIFA World Cup, check out the VIP press boxes and locker rooms. Listen as your guide tells tales of legendary matches like Brazil's devastating loss in the 1950 World Cup. Sit on the Brazilian team bench where greats like Pele rested after he scored his thousandth goal. Round-trip climate-controlled transportation from most Rio hotels is included.
After pickup at your Rio hotel, meet your guide and travel to Maracanã Stadium to immerse yourself in the world of futebol (pronounced 'foo-chee-bol' by the locals).
This 4-hour tour with a small group gives you the opportunity to stand on the hallowed ground of this legendary stadium, renovated to host the 2014 FIFA World Cup. Originally built to host the 1950 World Cup (during which Brazil suffered a devastating loss), it was the largest stadium in the world at that time and was officially named Estado Jornalista Mario Filho.
Stroll around the empty stadium, normally full of up to 183,000 screaming fans. Enter the locker rooms, decorated with the jerseys of famous retired players, and enjoy access to the VIP press box.
Park yourself on the Brazilian team bench, where players from Vasco, Flamengo, Fluminense and Botafogo have sat before you. Gaze out on the hallowed pitch, enjoying the same vantage point as the players do during a game. Walk up the entry ramp, just like Ronaldo does every game, and imagine the roar of a crowd around you as you step onto the field. Listen as your guide tells tales of the send off of Garrincha's earthly remains and Pele's thousandth goal, both of which took place in the stadium.
At the conclusion of this futebol-fanatic tour, enjoy transportation back to your Rio hotel. Please note: A minimum of 2 people per booking is required.
This really was a great tour and hit all of the highlights mentioned in the description. Total time spent on site was about 90 minutes. I went to a game at Maracana the weekend before and this was a perfect adjunct to that experience. Thumbs up.
Efraim Schvaitzer was our tour operator. Very good service. Thank You!
A very enjoyable tour. Always wanted to visit the maracana stadium, which did not disappoint. Our guide Ephraim looked after us extremely well. He was very friendly and knowledgeable and we would recommend people to go on this tour.
Pleasant and enjoyable private tour.
Great experience! Our group of 3 was picked up on time in a private car and escorted to the stadium to see experience a taste of the world cup! We saw the press area and luxury private suites, regular seating areas, as well as the locker room and the tunnel to the field. The amazing part was being on the field and in the team seats on the sidelines! it was an amazing, unbelievable experience and highly recommended!!
