We had a great time with our main guide and the driver. Positano was a blast and we would love to go back, the narrow streets and shops were amazing and the beach was beautiful. The drive along the coast was breath-taking, although Amalfi was not as interesting.
Our guide at Pompei was twice our age and twice as fast, we didn't have time to take pictures and keep up with him. But he was a local that lived in Pompei and his knowledge about the site was vast.
Our driver, Adam, was great at negotiating the ups, downs and narrow winding roads of the Amalfi Coast. Our guide, Valentina, was very charming, informative, and fun to be around. This option was great as it is more personal. We shared the tour with only one other couple, and we had a very nice time with them. The tour included several stops and the lunch location in Positano was great! If I had to say there was a downside, it was only the van itself. While very nice, the passenger seats face each other. It was great for conversation with the other couple, but not great for conversation with the guide as we were riding backwards. In addition to the conversation part, the riding backwards made it hard to see some of the sights, and unfortunately we did not take dramamine ahead of time, so some motion/car sickness did occur. SO, if you get a van that has that seating set up, be sure to take your dramamine. The person that got ill had never had motion or car sickness ever before, but with the steep inclines and winding roads overlooking steep cliffs, best be prepared. Taking that part away, the scenery is spectacular, and the trip was great!!
Completely worth it for the drive alone. If you're not planning to stay in Southern Italy, then this is the perfect way to see it in a day without the hassle/frustration of navigating through Italy traffic and windy roads. All of the tour guides were unbelievably knowledgeable, high-energy, and friendly. We learned so much and got a lot out of the day. It was great to start with the historical tour of Pompeii, and then relax a bit in the Amalfi area. Wear comfy shoes!

There are just not enough stars for this. This trip was totally out of this world. The driver Stephan, sorry if spelling wrong, and guide Valentina were totally awesome. Cheerful, friendly, patient, and extremely helpful.
This tour is a must, I would definitely go on this tour again.
Fantastic tour where we were picked up at our hotel in a comfortable minivan. There were 3 couples so a nice small group. Our driver handled the roads very well. Our guide was fabulous, I wish I wrote down her name, but she had a Phd. In human rights and was very knowledgeable in her history. It is a very long day but well worth it! Amazing scenery!! Pompeii is not to be missed. An older gentleman who is a specialist in the area took us through the ruins and hit all the highlights. We had to move somewhat quickly because this stop was on the way to the coast. Upon arriving in Positano we had a lovely lunch on the beach not included in the cost, delicious food. Unfortunately we didnt have much time to do any shopping or lingering because it is a long drive back to Rome. The roads are S curves so be sure to take Dramamine along if you are prone to motion sickness. Luckily everyone on our tour was fine! One of the highlights of our trip for sure, but it is a lot packed into one day. Picked up at our hotel at 645 am and dropped off about 8 at night.
This trip was the highlight of our vacation. Our guide, Valentina, was helpful and knowledgeable, and our driver was an expert on the busy, twisting roads. After spending the morning in Pompeii, we visited Positano and then Amalfi. My only regret is that we didn't have more time. It's possible to spend more than one day alone at Pompeii, and it would've been nice to have more time to walk around Positano....one of the most beautiful places I've ever visited.
It was a wonderful experience travelling to Pompeii and being given an excellent informative and entertaining tour by Hector our 70 year old guide. The driver and tour representative were likeable and lovely persons who tried to ensure we enjoyed the whole day. The Amalfi coast was spectacular though difficult roads and the driver was professional in managing the often tight and narrow roads. I would recommend the tour and experience to anyone visiting Rome.
The driver and the guild were very helpful. Their description of the history of Pompeii and the Amalfi Coast was very interesting that even the girls aged 8 and 10 understood it... The tour guild also suggested to see the coast Amalfi from a boat and organized a boat to take them. They were very happy and the girls enjoyed themselves very much.. I highly recommend this tour with this tour guide.
It was only 3 of us on the trip, so we got very well taken care of. The driver and guide was really good. making sure we had time for lunch and stops for break. The Amalfi Coast was really worth the trip. Wish we had more time to shop around Portofino. But, will highly recommend small group tour to Amalfi Coast
Doing Pompeii in the morning and Positano/Amalfi in the afternoon makes for a perfect balance. This was one of our favorite tours!
Magic all the way! Thanks to our tour guide Antoinette and her driver who's skill negotiated the amazing Amalfi Coast.
Pompeii was interesting and naturally a must see, however the real gem was Amalfi coast!Have fallen in love with Positano! Had a great lunch with all the crew on our small bus on the beach, simply stunning, thanks to Antoinette.Could have stayed longer! A perfect day thanks so much.
Pompeii was amazing and we had a great tour guide there. The Amalfi Coast was beautiful as well.
We were picked up by our guide Valentina and driver didn't get his name right at the front door of the apartment we were renting in Rome. The minivan was plenty big enough for us and the other group total of 6. Both Valentina and the driver were friendly and helpful all day, and I was very glad for the driver on the crowded, winding roads of the very beautiful Amalfi coast! Our tour of Pompeii was done by Ettore. Wonderful guide with fun sense of humor. In all a great experience.
The tour started with pickup right at our rental apartment in Rome. We were met by our guide and driver at 6:45 as instructed. We picked up one other couple and were then on our way. The trip to Pompeii was about an hour and a half. We were then setup with a professional tour guide whom walked us around Pompeii and spoke to us in English about the city, the culture, my Vessuvious, and other important hi lights. From there we drove down to the Amalfi coast, first stopping in Positana We stopped in three or four coastal towns for shopping, sightseeing, and lunch. The driver and guide were very accommodating to our wants and needs and allowed us to tailor our stops as we so chose. We were then driven home and dropped off directly at our apartment. This is a great tour for history buffs or folks looking to see the beautiful southern coast of Italy. It is well worth a day out of your vacation
I did this tour with my sister and two of my nieces and we had a fantastic time. I am 54 my sister 56 and the two nieces are 20 and 23. This was the best day we had on our 3 week European adventure. The only thing that topped it for my 23 y/o niece was paragliding in Switzerland. We were picked up by Antoinette guide and Stephano driver at the apartment we were staying in and then picked up another couple at a hotel and we were off for a beautiful adventure. Our first stop was Pompeii and had a fun tour with Paolo. Then we headed off to some of the most gorgeous views we have ever seen. We stopped several times to take pictures. There are some narrow roads and some turns and curves that are unbelievable and Stephano handled them with ease and not once did any of us get nervous. When we got to Positano we went directly to the beach to have lunch at a prearranged restaurant and had a great lunch. We then headed to the water so we could at least say we had our feet in the Mediterranean and then we hit the shops. It is a steep walk back up but with stopping at the stores on the way it wasn't too bad. After Positano we headed to Amalfi stopping again a few times for pictures. We walked through the town for some more shopping before starting our journey back. I couldn't say enough good things about Antoinette and Stephano i would use both again in a heartbeat. It was a beautiful day and it was both fun and relaxing and much needed after having spent 3 exhausting days seeing the sights of Rome. My nieces both decided when they get married they are doing a double wedding in Positano that's how much they loved it.
Fantastic tour! Very personalized! I would highly recommend this tour!
The tour was a great way to see a lot of the city even though we were short on time. There was an issue with tour guides mic at the start but that was fixed after the first stop. Otherwise the tour guide was fun and informative. Would recommend to friends
We booked this trip based on the reviews we read. And they were correct! This was a superb trip that was well worth the extra cost. Kudos to our driver Gian Luca who was amazing and our lovely, helpful and informative guide, Elisa. In addition, we enjoyed our guide Hector at Pompeii who was funny and interesting. We are telling everyone if they are looking to take a tour outside Rome, be sure to check out the Viator tours.
It was a wonderful drive to Pompei to see the ruins of a city that was devastated by mt Vesuvius. The guide at Pompei brought to life the city that had its heydays 2000 years ago with amenities that would make a modern city proud.
The coverage of Pompei was short but memorable. The good thing about the visit to Pompei was that there was no worry to park one's vehicle and no queue for tickets. Our regret was we could not see mt Vesuvius since it was covered in a veil of thick cloud.
The icing on the cake was the drive from Pompei to south of Naples down the Amalfi coast. With craggy mountains on one side, and the blue sea crashing into the cliffs on the other side, it was a lovely sight. We could stop at various points along the coast to take picturesque snaps capturing the small villages on the way. There were castles at every bend making the view even more romantic, beautiful and exciting.
The next time it has to be a stop in these towns for a few days to drink in the view.
The entire drive was in a large van. Valentine, the guide and the driver were extremely informative and accommodating. They would stop wherever we would see a great spot or bend on the road. On the way from Rome to Pompei, the guide showed us towns on the way and shared their history to give us a wider perspective to Italy. Overall, a great experience!
Our tour of Pompei was wonderful. Our Gide Hector was very knowledgeable. Traffic to the coast was terrible but worth the delay.
Wonderful time. Our tour guide Giuliana was so helpful. She showed us around give us alot of information about the Amalfi Coast. We spend most of our time in Positano area on that day. I would recomend this tour.
Excellent tour! Amalfi Coast is a must and worth the time and expense! Highly recommended!
We loved the small size of this trip, we had 6 people in our van plus a driver and tour guide. She wasn't exactly a tour guide, but she informed us of where we were going and was there for questions....very lovely, can't remember her name but we traveled on Sept 16th. We got picked up at the hotel, and went to Pompeii first and met with a specialized guide there. He kept things interesting and showed us all the coolest stuff to see. It was nice to go earlier in the morning, not as hot and not as busy. Then we started along the coastline and stopped twice for great pictures. We had lunch in Positano, she made a reservation for us at a restaurant on the beach, but we didn't have to stay there. Then we had free time to shop in the city a bit. I researched doing this trip via transit, but it seemed like more hassle than it's worth. I enjoyed our day and would recommend it to anyone wanting to see Amalfi and only having a short amount of time in Rome. Bring snacks and eat a big breakfast. We didn't have lunch until 2. Awesome day!
