Other sites you’ll see include the Arch of Septimius Severus, the colonnaded Regia, the Gemonian stairs and the Temple of Vespasian and Titus.

From here, walk to Capitoline Hill, one of the Seven Hills of Rome, to admire the Michelangelo-designed Piazza del Campidoglio, and then continue to Rome’s historic center (centro storico) to see well-known attractions like the Trevi Fountain, Pantheon and Piazza Navona. This tour was lead by Mariana of Enjoy Rome tours. She made touring of the Colosseum and Forum and the other parts of Rome interesting and fun with the extensive knowledge that she has of the history of the city of Rome.

Office address (meeting point) on Viator was not correct; the correct address is Via Tommaso Grossi 10. It was not that easy to find for the taxi driver. 3,5 hours walking was a lot, but very worthwhile. Renate from Russia was very good explaining and was very nice and attentive to the needs of all.

My entire family went on this tour together. I found the guide very knowledgeable although a bit more context might have been good. She showed us where Julius Caeser was assassinated but no background information about why. Perhaps a separate tour for history enthusiasts would be good concentrating on the forum. We certainly saw all the high spots with some reasonable explanation about what we were seeing. A lot of historical Rome was covered and it was an opportunity to get the feeling of the city as it went from several small farm towns meeting in the forum as a market, through the republic and empire, into the Christian Era, the Middle Ages, the Renaissance and even the Baroque. I was happy to get the broad sweep of history and architecture. If I return to Rome, I hope I will find some specialized tours on history, architecture, art, and archeology. I strongly recommend anyone taking this tour to wear extremely comfortable shoes. The tour area is all cobblestone and broken stones. It is very hard on the feet. Also the pit stop had a rather old fashioned Italian toilet. On a tour with Americans, I suggest finding a place with more modern facilities.

Excellent and highly informative tour guide. There was some disorganization at the beginning and the tour started late, but the quality of the tour made up for it.
