What You Can Expect

Ancient Rome Half-Day Walking Tour

See the sights of the Roman Forum on this exciting Rome walking tour!

After meeting your guide, your half-day Rome walking tour start by entering the Colosseum.

With your guide, explore the second and third levels of this legendary amphitheatre, learning interesting facts such as how seats were assigned according to social class. You’ll also hear about the gruesome gladiator games, the Colosseum’s main attraction that provided much entertainment to the crowd. Then follow your guide back outside to walk around the neighboring streets, where the commercial and political center of ancient Rome once stood.

Head to the Roman Forum, where you’ll check out historic ruins such as the Temple of Caesar and listen to stories about the power and backstabbing that went on during this period of Roman history. Other sites you’ll see include the Arch of Septimius Severus, the colonnaded Regia, the Gemonian stairs and the Temple of Vespasian and Titus.

From here, walk to Capitoline Hill, one of the Seven Hills of Rome, to admire the Michelangelo-designed Piazza del Campidoglio, and then continue to Rome’s historic center (centro storico) to see well-known attractions like the Trevi Fountain, Pantheon and Piazza Navona. Check out the square’s three fountains designed by famous baroque sculptor Bernini before your tour ends here, the perfect central location from which you can continue exploring Rome on your own.

This tour was very good! Our guide Irene was very nice, funny and informative. She did not waste time and she made sure we all had time to take photos and take in the sights. I would definitely recommend this, especially since the individual ticket line for the Colosseum is extremely long even in winter. Go in a group like this and get in faster/learn more!

My wife and I really enjoyed this tour. It was amazing to see Colosseum and surrounding area. Our group was small about 10 people, so the guide was able to give more one on one attention if you had any questions. Great day.

Our guide, Giuseppe was terrific. Gave us the backstory on everything we saw. Communication was flawless. Great experience.

What a wonderful tour. We started just down the road from the Colosseum and ended up in the centre of Rome at Piazza Navona and visited all of the sights in between. The Colosseum, Roman Forum, The Pantheon, Trevi Fountain and much more. Our guide, Raffaellea Etna, was an absolute delight with and extensive knowledge of Roman history. A bit of walking but nothing too strenuous and it went over time but that was a bonus. Highly recommended, especially first time Rome visitors.

This is a really great tour, but it is really hard to stay on schedule and see everything that is included when there are thousands of people competing for sidewalk space with you.
