Pay the extra dollars for this tour for these reasons: 1. Early access gets you in ahead of the massive mobs. 2. Our tour guide, Raffa, was very well spoken and highly knowledgable about the architecture, the artwork, the history, and the religious significance during the tour. 3. Best thing about this tour: Raffa zipped past many areas to get us into the Sistine Chapel very early. We were able to sit on benches in the chapel and really enjoy the artwork for over 20 minutes. We then circled around and took a slower pace to enjoy the exhibits we flew by earlier. We did pass through the Sistine Chapel on our way back through, and later in the morning the place was jammed wall-to-wall with people packed in there like sardines packed in a can.
Raffa (or Raffaela) was a great guide. This tour is well worth the money spent. Raffa was good at giving is detailed explanations and I appreciated that we got in before the rest of the crowd. It was a world of difference walking through the museum and Sistene Chapel In such an intimate setting.
Our 7:30 am tour had only 4 persons with a very knowledgeable guide. We spent 15 minutes in the Sistine chapel with it less than 20 full, later in the morning our path led through the chapel to other areas - by 11:00 it was shoulder to shoulder and, we're told, a 5-10 minute experience. Nice time of day. Well worth the early rise and cost.
Fantastic tour and guide. Worth it to get in an hour early to the Sistine Chapel before the crowds arrived. Vatican is amazing and so much to see that without a tour you would miss so much.
This tour is just great. Starting early gives you the benefit to see the rooms with no crowds at all. A lot of time is saved in this way and a lot more can be covered. The visit to the Sistine Chapel is definitely the highlight of the tour.
This tour was awesome! We were in the museums, Sistine Chapel, and St. Peter's Basilica before it became crowded. Our guide was very knowledgeable.
AMAZING! Going before hours allowed our group to see the Sistine Chapel with some peace, before it gets very crowded and hot later in the day. I saw in person some of the greatest art in history with my own eyes. This tour should be longer. My guide passed art that I have seen in textbooks, but there is so much to see that 3 hours isn't enough. Highly recommended.
Unbelievable! Skip the line was well worth every penny! Our guide was extremely knowledgable and well spoken. She welcomed questions and there was no question she was unable to answer. We highly recommend this tour!
This was an excellent tour. It was very easy to find the guide outside the Vatican and she looked after the small group very well, dealing with all the complicated logistics of the tickets. She also knew a lot about the areas we were to see and gave us detailed and interesting explanations.
I was a bit nervous about taking a tour because I normally like to do everything independently, but comparing this to when I last visited the Vatican and stood in a queue for nearly two hours, this was much better.
Very enjoyable and highly recommended.
Our guide Rafe was great got us through the museum quickly before the main crowds we transited the sistine chapel later and it was standing room only
