Best of Rome in a Day Private Guided Tour Including Vatican, Sistine Chapel, and Colosseum

The Sistine Chapel

Start your 'Rome in Day' tour with the city's most famous ancient monument – the Colosseum. Walk through the interior and try to imagine the gladiator battles that took place there. Visit the nearby Roman Forum to see the Temple of Saturn, House of the Vestal Virgins and the Arch of Titus among other things. Go from ancient Roman monuments to modern ones with a stop at the Vittoriano on Piazza Venezia.

Throw a coin into the water when you reach the Trevi Fountain to ensure your return to Rome. Stop for lunch (own expense) at one of the restaurants in the area before heading on to the Government District. See the Palace of the Council of Ministers, the Parliament and the Column of Marcus Aurelius.

See the Temple of Hadrian on your way to the Pantheon, where you'll see tombs of Italian kings as well as the artist Raphael.

Continue on to the Ancient Baths of Nero and then to Piazza Navona to see Bernini's famous fountain in its center.

Visit the Vatican as your final stop. See the highlights in the enormous Vatican Museums, including the Raphael Rooms and Michelangelo's frescoes in the Sistine Chapel.

Fantastic tour! We were in Rome for just 2 days and wanted to make sure we saw all of the highlights. Mariarosaria was so informative and expertly guided us through all of the must-see sights. The price may seem steep at first, but a private, skip the line tour is the only way to see the Colosseum and Vatican in the same day and stay sane. More than worth the money. A must if you're in Rome and want to see it all in a day!

Really worth the money. Our guide Tommas is worth every dollar. He got us into the front of every line. Not included is a short taxi ride across town and lunch. He ate lunch with us so we paid for him too. We will only be doing private tours in the future!

Agata our guide made our day outsanding from start to finish. We and two of our friends all from Canada had only limited time in Rome, this tour and Agata enabled us to see two of our main interests in one day and a few more as well. Her expertise and personality along with her excellent English made the day memorable. I would recommend this private tour to anyone wishing a personal/small group guided tour of some impressive sights in Rome. Thanks Again!!!

Dr. Thomas was outstanding. As he grew up in the area, and loved Rome's history, he was very knowledgeable regarding the Roman Empire as well as all the sites we visited. We had hoped to see the Pantheon and he insured we visited it, too. We suggest the Pantheon be included in this Day Tour. Dr. Thomas knew all the quiet streets, shortcuts to avoid the crowds where possible, alot of the City's hidden treasurers, like Pinocho and a family owned traditional Italian restuarat for lunch. Although it was a hot day, he ensured he found areas in the shade, and where we could enjoy so cool breezes. Dr. Thomas is one in a million and we wish him a very blessed life. We truly appreciate him making our day in Rome memorable and special.

Outstanding! Thoroughly enjoyed the detailed explanation of everything at an unhurried pace. It is so nice to be able to scoot past the long lines at the entry to the Colessium and the Vatican Museum. There were no waits or delays anywhere. This was an eight hour walking tour. We took a mid morning break for coffee and an early afternoon break for a light lunch. We never felt hurried. Cristiana is extremely knowledgeable and friendly. She paced the tour based on all of our needs and adjusted nicely when one of our group lacked the interest that the rest had. We were a group of six. Highly recommended. Would absolutely do this again.

Tomasso was very knowledgeable and made the things we saw so much more interesting than if we had just walked around on our own. Getting into the Vatican without waiting in a huge queue saved so much time, and there is no way we could have seen everything we did in 1 day without Tomasso.

Our private guided tour of Rome with Lara, our tour guide, was even better than we had expected! I was a little hesitant when I booked the private tour due to the cost, but it was worth every penny! Lara met us at the appointed time and location and we began a 6 plus hour walking tour of the most incredible sites. Not having to wait in very long lines at each site was a huge plus which afforded us the opportunity to see more than had we not taken the private tour. My husband is a history buff, so he figured he would know more than the guide. Wrong! Lara blew him away with her knowledge and they got along famously sharing knowledge of Roman history. It was truly everything we had hoped for in a tour and more. Thank you, Lara and Viator, for making our last day in Rome so memorable.

Excellent tour and an amazing tour guide! We've done a dozen or so tours using Viator over the past few years and this was really one of the best. It was an awful lot of walking but well worth it. Our guide was Francesca and she was very kind and very professional. I don't think we ever had a guide who was so courteous, knowledgeable, and professional. She kept the tour interesting and was quick to adapt to what we were hoping to see and what we liked. She really felt like an old friend right away. The tour itself covered a large swath of the city center and then the Vatican museum and church. Just seeing the line at the Vatican is enough to make you realize how useful it is to have a tour guide with you who can purchase the entrance tickets in advance and also show you the quickest way into the building to avoid the lines. This tour was a highlight to our trip - a really wonderful experience. We highly recommend it.
