Not a place to miss! My husband and adult daughter and I climbed all over the Castel, even to the top. Not too hard a climb and full of history. We did an independent tour, but knew much of the history. View from top is magnificent.

Thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The views from the top are well worth the steps!!!. Amazing views across Rome - can see the Pantheon and Collosseum. 15 minutes walk from Vatican so worth doing before or after a trip to the Vatican,
Guide was soft spoken and had to due the tour in multiple languages making it hard to stay focused. No audio on outdoor parts made it hard to hear information.
This was an entrance ticket, not a tour. We were not able to visit this attraction while in Rome.
The building is beautiful and the view from the top is pretty amazing but there's not much to see with regards to the museum aspect.
I've been to Rome three times, and never made it to the Castel before. While historically it has an amazing story, today there is not much there. The views of Rome on a clear day are worth the time.
There wasn't a tour. We paid Viator 31.40 Euro for entrance to the site which would have cost 20.00 Euro if we had bought the tickets at the entrance. The site is well worth the visit - I would give the site 3-4 stars, but the booking via Viator is completely superfluous. We were in Rome the week before Easter 2016 so it was busy. We were at Castel Sant'Angelo at 9:00 a.m. There were only 10 people ahead of us in line. So go early, don't book ahead.
There is not much to do here with limited English information, but the building is impressive. I get the feeling it may have been in a winter mode when we attended. An hour seemed enough to look at everything here. I would recommend it is ok for a quick visit.
However service is very poor. We were treated very poorly by the staff when presenting our voucher. We were told rudely that our voucher is rubbish and that we had done it wrong and they do not use barcodes which I have since checked and we followed the instructions to the letter and that we would not be getting in. In the end we did get past the woman, who seemed to resent trip advisor. Maybe this is something that can be reviewed to save others experiencing the same?
The Castel Sant' Angelo is rich in history and very interesting but a map or audio guide would be needed. They have none. A tour guide would be necessary to truly appreciate this important site.
