Excellent tour with very knowledgeable and friendly guide. She handled a rainy day with grace and skill. Tour hit all the highlights and added additional time to go to the top level of the colosseum.

Fantastic experience!! This activity really needed a guide! We learned so much and had great access to places. Chiara, our guide, was terrific--knowledgeable and charming! The small group made it easier in crowds than a large group would.

This was fantastic, so much to see and learn, to think of the age of these places and what went on in them is amazing when you stand and look at it, and how they were built etc. Would do this again as you cant take it all in at once.

Excellent tour and tour guide. Was able to see everything with a small group and getting into the Colosseum through a private entrance made it all the more enjoyable.

It was amazing, despite, or maybe even because of the torrential rain we experienced, of Biblical proportions, that turned the roads into rivers and steps into waterfalls, literally, Our intrepid guide, Rene, led us off to the Colosseum, umbrellas and rain poncho covered heads held high and she even managed to get us inside, depsite the fact they were considering closing due to the rain making the stairways unsafe. Anyway, in we went and we did see some of the Colosseum before the inevitable happened and they decided to close and began to usher everyone out. At this point Rene's Italian deserted her and we avoided evacuation for as long as possible - till they got the measure of us and kept a beady eye on making sure we left the building. Back to the office for a dry out and a warm and then, as the rain had almost stopped, typical a few of us followed Rene back out into the streets I think by now we'd have followed her anywhere! to see the Forum, Palatine and Capitoline Hills. As well as being intrepid and waterproof, she has an amazing knowledge of Rome as I suppose you would expect but she explains the hsitory of the monuments in a very enthusiastic and digestible way.

Did I mention it was my birthday which is why we'd booked the tour never having been inside the Colosseum before so Rene's tour certainly made for a very memorable day, not least because while she was explaining some of the history of the Forum one of the office team appeared in the street with a birthday cupcake and candles, and the group sang happy birthday to me in the Roman drizzle! Such thoughtfulness. I was really moved by everyone's kindness.

So, I'm sure it would have been a great tour if everything had been 'normal' but in the circumstances it was a magnificent tour!
