Early Vatican tour
, Oct 2019
By far the best time to visit the Vatican museums and Sistine chapel is before the crowds are let in. You don't get exclusive entry since there are other groups with early entry, but a lot less groups than throughout the day. Since you meet at 7:30 am, you get into the queue quite handy for the 8:00 am opening. Julio (hope the spelling is correct) our guide, was amazing!! He was extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the museums, his Italian history and the Sistine chapel. This was great for a person like me with very little historical knowledge! I came away enlightened and amazed at the sights I saw in the 2 hour tour. St Peters was a different story, very very busy, but again out host made light of the crowds and we had a great 1 hour tour. The tour was very well organised and the guide was terrific! Also, don;t be fooled October is still very busy in Rome!!!
I didn't want to give this 4 stars , but it was closer to 5 in my mind. The guide Julius , not sure of his spelling, gave his all and had a driving passion for this tour. My headset kept craping.out and it was the second one that I tried. When we saw the lines at the end that we avoided , we were grateful for taking this tour. It was also a bit strenuous for us over 75 folks. A lot of steps And uphill walks. It should have been pointed out to us. Not sorry, we needed to see this, last time in Rome we missed it.
Tony, thank you for choosing our tours. We are sorry to learn you had issues with your Vatican assigned ear piece. Skipping the lines is indeed an ideal experience as it allows you to save hours of time.
This tour was wonderful, our guide was extremely knowledgable, which made all the difference to know the significance of the many and varied things we looked at. The entrance to the Vatican doesn't open until 8am, so meeting at 7.30am is so the guide can give information about the Sistine Chapel... because whilst in the Sistine Chapel, there is no talking. I would recommend this tour!
Thank you, Elise! No talking is allowed within the Sistine Chapel because it is Holy Ground but while waiting in line for the security check the guide will always fill you in on everything and provide you with a visual guide image that you can analyze while inside the chapel. I am very happy your enjoyed your Early Access Vatican Tour!
Even though it was early access, there were so many groups that had early access, but it was worth it because we didn't wait long. We were among the first of the groups to go in. Our tour guide was fantastic. She kept us all interested and she was very knowledgeable. One of the best tours on our trip.
Thoroughly enjoyable tour in a group of 10 people. Thank you to our guide who never stopped giving us information from the moment we met her to when we went our separate ways in the Basilica. It was worth the extra cost to go in the early morning. Even though there are actually a large number of tour groups going in an hour before the public once you are inside there is lots of room and actually in some galleries we were the only group. Once you have completed the tour of the three areas if you are not scared of heights or claustrophobic it is worth paying the extra 8E to climb to the top of the dome what a fantastico view.
One thing you may want to check out is whether there is an earlier time slot as I did notice a few groups going in 1.5 hours before the public. That would mean that the galleries would be really quiet.
Vital Vatican Visit
After some slight confusion in finding our tour, Chiara met us and guided us throughout the Vatican Museum, the incredible Sistine Chapel, and St. Peter’s Basilica. She thoroughly explained with great knowledge the ceiling and The Last Judgement prior to our entering the buildings. What a wise use of time. Her gentle, intelligent manner added to a once in a lifetime experience for us, and we are so grateful for this spectacular experience.
Great tour from the beginning till the end! Enjoyed every minute of it! Especially our tour leader Myriam Tranquilli was fantastic, very knowledgeable and kept the tour lively.
Also, early access to the Vatican is undoubtedly worth it to enjoy it without many people.
Surely recommend this tour to anyone!
My 12 year old son and I took the early entrance tour. It was fantastic and our guide was amazing. She was very knowledgeable and made the visit exciting for my son. We both learned so many interesting facts and it was obvious our guide loved her work.
