An absolutely wonderful way to see Naples and Pompeii from Rome. You have an early AM pickup from your hotel to a central spot to catch your tour bus. The route takes you past Monte Cassino but it was obscured by fog on the morning drive to Naples so we could not see the monastery. We had a driving tour of Naples with a short stop on the waterfront before heading to Pompeii. Pompeii was fantastic and the visit was made even better by a truly great guide at the site. The provided lunch was quite good at a local restaurant just outside the archeological area. The day ended with the return to Rome and hotel drop-off.
An amazing tour! We really enjoyed it from start to finish. Now if only they could have stopped the rain. Lunch was excellent also. The guide was amazing. Would highly recommend this tour!
Our 3 hour bus ride was comfortable, and the guide was interesting and informative. We stopped for coffee halfway there. The walk around Naples was great, and the provided lunch was very good. We changed guides at this point as we were separated into language groups and our second guide was also great. It poured rain during our 2 hour tour through Pompeii but we enjoyed it nonetheless. The ruins are fabulous. The return bus ride was comfortable. All in all a wonderful experience.
Naples lunch was great. A taste of plenty of the traditional dishes!! I loved Pompeii... And our tour guide was really great... Really concerned that we got to see a lot of the place. Pompeii is a must do!
This is so worth it! The tour picked us up from our hotel in a nice Mercedez Mini Van, and it truly gave you a high class feeling. Pompeii is amazing, they gave us a wonderful hefty Lunch in Naples, which you either chose Pizza or Pasta, and had good starters as well as dessert! You go the full meal, and the FULL PIZZA all to yourself. The food was great, they gave you a soft drink, and no one appeared to get sick. The walking wasn't too much while you appreciate the proximity of Naples to Pompeii. We learned a lot about the city in Naples, though you may not have too much time to yourself here, there is not too much to do but the tour guide gave us plenty of time to venture on our own before returning to the AC Bus. This tour also covered Pompeii showing you the highlights rather then having you venture on your own and getting lost. You do need to have Pompeii guided, as without a tour guide you will just be looking at empty old ruins, not appreciating the true hardships that were lost due to the volcanic activity that burned the city alive over night. By the time the Trip ended we were returned right back to our hotels which was really awesome!
This tour is a must!!! Absolutely brilliant from start to finish, but be warned it and #39;s a long day!! Lunch was very good 3 courses and refreshing break. Pompeii itself is a must for any history searching person.from start to finish very informative one word...brill
Got a slight discount because I signed up at very last minute. Bus was clean and felt safe. Both tour guides were professional, personable...and made me feel more secure and safe as a single female traveler. This was a national holiday and so trying to get to and from Rome to Pompeii by taxi or train would have been more expensive...plus train would have been super crowded w/limited schedules. Lunch was nice pizza/pasta...nothing fancy. With injured hip and knee, comfy bus to Rome was definitely the way to go. Loved the walking tour of Pompeii... Did not spend much time in Naples, but got a sense of the city. Very glad I took this tour. Would definitely recommend. Guides were GREAT.
I definitely enjoyed this tour! It was like taking a step back into time. I feel like I learned so much and the pictures came out awesome! I'm so glad I chose it! I was initially hesitant to go with this one because I have food allergy issues and it included lunch, but they REALLY worked with me on it. They provided me with gluten free choices for the appetizer and lunch, and then the tour guide I think his name was Paolo? actually offered to go somewhere to GET me a gluten free dessert so that I would have something too. It was really the nicest gesture. I feel like he went above and beyond. And when someone placed food containing gluten in front of me, he jumped up to stop me from eating it. I was really just pleased overall.
I went on this tour with my boyfriend, and we loved it! Though the bus ride was kind of long, we were able to stop at a cute little cafe to get some coffee and breakfast on the way there and coffee again on the way back. Our tour guides, both on the bus ride and for Naples/Pompeii, were wonderful. They really knew their stuff and they were extremely kind! Although 45 minutes is not enough time to really explore Naples, it was a cool little pit stop and we got a lot more than what was expected. After the Naples tour we had lunch at the Pompeii restaurant which was pretty good. We got a complementary drink, bread, two courses, and dessert! Finally, Pompeii was wonderful. I've wanted to go there since I was a little girl so it was such a great experience. My only complaint is that spring is apparently their down season, so they were doing tons of renovations and we did not get to fully see everything that Pompeii had to offer. Other than that, I highly recommend this tour!
Naples is not worth the visit but Pompeii certainly makes up for that! So 5 stars for Pompeii and our tour guide! Bus ride was wonderful, too, as was the amazing lunch we received. We expected a boxed lunch and we ended up getting a full service meal in a lovely restaurant even served with wine and beer.
