Great guide, comfortable buses, amazing experience all around.
Very impressed by City Wonders - I liked the fact that we had 2 assigned guides for the 50 of us on the coach, both of them contributing helpful and interesting commentary during the day. Our guide, Anna, and the other Group's guide were both superb very friendly and they supplied lots of helpful general information as well as historical background and much more. At Pompeii which we went to 1st we split into 2 smaller groups of 25 to go round each group conducted by a local guide our one was also very good indeed. We thoroughly enjoyed the whole tour - we'd picked this one specially, knowing that in the winter they go to the Museum in Naples instead of up Mt Vesuvius. This made it the perfect combination for us, since we got to see the superb collection of mosaics and artefacts from Pompeii that are now in that Museum we had just over an hour there in the afternoon. Winter was an excellent time to see Pompeii smaller crowds, so our excellent local guide could take his time and there was less chivvying - we got to see a good lot in the 2 hours we had there and no queuing to go into any of the key buildings. We were particularly fortunate as it was a beautiful sunny day albeit very cold and there was an uncommon sprinkling of snow on Mt Vesuvius in the distance, providing a stunning backdrop. Lunch directly after our Pompeii visit was pizza and side salad, plus 1 complimentary drink. I thought this lunch stop - and indeed the 2 other brief 'comfort'/coffee stops - were well organised and efficient.
Great trip. My second time here but first time hiring a tour and I learned so much more along the way. Really got a kick out of climbing Mt. Vesuvius as the last time I was there the weather was uncooperative. I think most anyone can walk at least the lower part, but if you want to make it to the top, it helps if you're in reasonable shape. Friendly, funny, knowledgeable tour guides. Well-paced. Lunch was a bit lame as I am not a fan of soggy Napoli-style pizza, but that takes nothing away from the overall experience. Very well managed tour.
Tour was amazing and if it's at all possible request Kylie as your guide, she's phenomenal!!!
Do it. Just do it. What an amazing experience! Just be prepared for a long walk up - it's a trail and easy to walk, but wear comfortable shoes.
Fantastic tour. The tour guide was extremely informative, and engaged well with everyone in the group. Highly recommended tour

Unbelievable tour! We actually climbed Vesuvius! Amazing views along the way that we will never forget, especially peering into the crater of Vesuvius as we walked along the crater edge. Once in a lifetime experience! After the Vesuvius climb, we went into Naples for a filling and great lunch with the best pizza we ever ate! Pompeii Tour was excellent too and covered everything you would want to see and know and then some. Amazing to walk the actual streets of Pompeii! The artifacts were amazing. Do this tour!!
Unfortunately we could do visit Mount vesuvius but we stopped in naples. Tour guides were great.
Great guide, great day. Highly recommend this to interested people.
Great day. The guide Roberto was passionate and entertaining - terrific guide for the whole day. It was good to see the artefacts in Naples before going to the archeological site. Awesome tour.
This tour was great! It was a long day but very worth it. Wear good shoes for walking/hiking up Mt. Vesuvius. Bus stops at rest stop along the way. You can leave stuff on bus while on tours. Emilio was very nice guide.
We almost cancelled this tour, as we couldn't pry ourselves away from Rome. Boy, are we glad we went! Vesuvius did not disappoint. Despite the gift shops at the summit, standing on the rim of an active volcano is an amazing experience. I thought Pompeii would be morbid and depressing, but it was quite the opposite. Our Pompeii guide brought the city to life, and his wry sense of humor made the tour highly enjoyable. Our main guide for the day, Roberto, was simply amazing. He spent the long ride back to Rome explaining Italian cuisine, what is and isn't authentic, and how to know which restaurants to visit and which to run away from. I wish we had done this tour on our first day instead of our last, it would have enhanced our dining experience in Rome.
Grande experiência, os guias Roberto e Ahmed são os melhores! Minha esposa e eu adoramos a viagem, a cidade de Pompeia e o Museu Arqueológico Nacional.O guia de Pompeii foi ótimo também, muito instrutivo e divertido.
Louise was a fantastic host from the start. Very entertaining and knowledgeable. Our tour guide at Pompeii had the perfect mix of humour, friendliness and mountains of knowledge about the site. Definitely would recommend this tour! Plus the pizza for lunch was the best!
Wonderful guides, nice lunch, and we loved going to the museum in Naples- it was wonderful. I highly recommend this one.
Our tour guide was Roberto he was fantastic. He was funny, very informative, and told amazing legends throughout the day. Pompeii was amazing to see in real life and completely different from what I had imagined. Afternoon traffic was horrible going into the city of Naples to go to the museum went in December so Mt. Vesuvius is not able to tour, therefore our time was limited to 1 hr and 15 minutes. We still got to see a decent amount, just at a quick pace.
The tour is actually through City Wonders and are highly rated!
Excellent trip with great guide and tons of fun. Expect a lot of walking.
We loved this tour! Our guides Dimitri and Ana did a fantastic job despite the cold and rainy weather. They provided so much information, it made the entire experience worthwhile and one not to be missed.
This was the one of the highlights of our week in Italy! The guide was incredible, pointing out points of interest all along the way to Pompeii in the very comfortable, clean bus we were in. The plaza we met in to get on the bus, the Piazza del Popolo, was itself beautiful and was even seen in movie Angels and Demons. The stop for a light snack on the way was appreciated you pay, but it was cheap and the chocolate croissant was amazing. The stop for your own personal pizza in Naples was fun too! You cannot believe how incredible Pompeii was, and still is. We got back to our hotel around 9:30 PM exhausted, but incredibly thankful we booked this tour with this company.
This was the most wonderful day trip. It was an early start and we were welcomed by Roberto who was Mr. Wonderful all day long. This man made the trip for the entire coach. His stories and knowledge of ancient times was second to none. Captivating!
We got to Pompeii and were shown around this magnificent ancient city by a local girl from Naples. She was very knowledgeable.
We then went to a local restaurant in Naples for authentic Pizza. Delicious! We then went on a short journey up the slopes of Vesuvius which was an experience in itself. The lady driving the bus was incredible. And such a good singer when herself and Roberto sang a local song about Vessy! The view from Vesuvius was incredible looking over the bay of Naples and the isle of Capri. Stunning!
The Journey home was so much fun as Roberto was so captivating and interactive with the whole of the coach. In a nutshell this was the highlight of our trip to Italy and we would certainly do it again. Keep up the good work guys. Darren and Laura from Ireland.
The guides Jon and Roberto were amazing and definitely made the trip. The trip and experience itself were amazing, absolutely worth the 13 hour journey. Pompeii in and of itself is incredible and a must see but personally, Mt. Vesuvius was the best part. You take a bus ride about 90 of the incline up the mountain and the last few km's are up to you. They describe the journey perfectly and allow for about an hour for you to to get past the three guide shops and to the end of the path at the top. It was an amazing experience being next to the top of a dormant volcano with the possibility of exploding at any moment. Volcanic gasses were spewing from a few locations within the crater which made it that much more exciting. The views from the top are INCREDIBLE - by far the best views I have seen and even in the 35 degree temperatures it was more than worth it. To say you've hiked up the side of the worlds most dangerous volcano is worth the journey itself and this trip includes much more than that. Our guide at Pompeii was also outstanding, a local Napoleon citizen who had lived in the area all of his life with plenty of stories and facts. The stop at the restaurant for famous Napoleon pizza was also a really great experience. On the way back the guides let you rest a bit and then nearing Rome they give you an incredible amount of inside knowledge - stuff I wish I had heard before going to Italy about everything from cafes and restaurants to stay away from, to the ones that you need to go to. Jon and Roberto made the experience amazing, they are charismatic and hilarious at the same time, highly knowledgable. 10/10 recommended / would do it again. Viator also made the experience easy with iPhone passbook passes and the entire payment process.
Great tour. Very informative. The tour guides are so knowledgeable. near the end of the tour they gave is cultural tips and tricks to know how to choose restaurants like the locals do. I will be returning and plan on booking this one again. You will not be disappointed.
