What You Can Expect

Pompeii and Amalfi Coast Semi-Private Day Trip from Rome

See Pompeii on a day trip from Rome!

Your Amalfi Coast tour starts as you depart Rome by minivan for the drive south into the Campania region of southern Italy. This is a small-group tour with maximum of seven people per minivan, which ensures a personalized experience.

During the approximate 3-hour journey, your driver-guide will tell you about what to expect from the day. Then arrive at your first stop, the town of Amalfi, a former naval power now famous for its cliffside perch on the coast of the Tyrrenhian Sea. You have free time here to explore independently. Perhaps visit landmarks like the Cloister of Paradise (Chiostro del Paradiso), relax over a coffee or limoncello at a café (own expense) or take a walk to admire the Mediterranean architecture.

Next, head to Positano, stopping along the way for photo ops from the coastal road. Once again, you have free time in the village to get lunch (own expense) and explore on your own, enjoying views of the sea and hillside homes. Then meet back up with your guide to continue your day trip to Pompeii for a 2-hour guided tour of its World Heritage-listed ruins that were covered in volcanic ash from the eruption of Mt Vesuvius in 79 AD. As you explore with your guide, learn about the discovery of the ruins in the 18th century and hear stories about life in the village during the days of Ancient Rome.

Your day trip then ends with the drive back to Rome.

Picked up by Anna early in the morning and headed off to Amalfi Coast. Anna explained lots of information along the way. Amalfi Coast and Positano were beautiful. After lunch, we headed to Pompei and the local guide Archi was amazing. Although we only had a short 1.5 in the site but without him we wouldn't be able to see/know so much with a limited time. We arrived back in Rome at around 8:45pm, a long day but it was well worth it.

This tour exceeded my expectations. We were picked up on time by Khan who was so friendly and patient. He explained things en route to our destination. Always had a smile on his face and did whatever he cold to ensure that our experience was seamless.

Would highly recommend this tour and Khan!

David our guide was amazing .He got us into places that we didnt think were possible .The roads around the Amalfi are busy, and roads are skinny and unless you know this area you wouldn't drive to this area by your self.

The tour was well organized. We got to see a really beautiful coastline. My favorite part was the town of Positono where we had lunch. It is a wonderful and relaxing town. Later we did a tour of the ancient town of Pompeii which was quite interesting.
I think the experience would not have been the same without our tour guide, Achille. He was well informed about the sites. He would point out the plan at each stop ahead of time and give us good tips on how to spend our time! The drive on the Amalfi coast is impressive. I felt safe while our guide was skillfully driving. I enjoyed a day out in the beautiful and historic Italy.
