My husband and I were the only people that reserved the tour the day we went, so we had a private tour! Trastevere is a great area to see what Rome is like for everyday life, away from all of the tourist sites, and tourists. Our guide, Vanessa, thoroughly knew the history of the Trastevere area, and it's relation to other areas of Rome throughout history. The Basilica of St. Cecelia was the first church we went to in Rome. It was beautiful and had a fascinating story of its history. We enjoyed learning about the varying achitectural styles from different eras. We learned about the importance of the Tiber river in the development of Rome. Walking along the river and observing the bridges. was both interesting and relaxing. A lot of information was packed in to the two hour tour. I highly recommend this tour.
The guide was wonderful and so passionate and knowledgable. A definite must do when in Rome. Met some lovely Americans who we had drinks with after the tour.
The walking tour was very interesting. The guide, Margherita, was very explicit and gave us a lot of details about the places visited.
I have stayed in Trastevere the last 10 times I have been in Rome. I love the neighborhood, but I was not familiar with this neighborhoods history. I wish I remembered the name of the guide, she was terrific, a history major, and really knew a lot about the history of Trastevere. The walking tour was 2.5 hours long and ended at a neighborhood bakery. A real nice touch. Most tourists are not familiar with this neighborhood. A wonderful opportunity to hear the history, and walk the historical paths of the past.
A wonderful historic tour of some of the key sites in and around the Trastevere area. The guide was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic, bringing with him reference material to support the visual impact of the sights; English was perfect. Recommend this tour.
Laura, our tour guide, was wonderful. She had a unique perspective of the history and demographics of the area since her family had lived there for generations. It was a different type of tour in the fact that there weren't any well known monuments, churches, or attractions that were overwhelmed by tourists. Much more intimate. My friend and I really enjoyed the experience and would definitely book again.
There were only 3 people went on this tour including myself so it was like a private tour. We met the guide in front of the church in Trastevere. His name is Mauro. He is excellent, told us the history of that neighbourhood and the churches that are there including Santa Maria. It is an old beautiful church. The tour was good and interesting. The neighbourhood itself is very interesting. Lots of walking on cobble stones, make sure you have a guide as it is very easy to get lost. Lots to see in Trastevere. The guide said at night the neighourhood is even more beautiful and interesting. It is more peaceful than any other sites in Rome.
My wife and I booked a walking tour of Trastervere. It was vey nice and we learned about an area that we would not have otherwise visited. It was not as exciting as some of the other tours (Vatican/historical sites/catacombs). We still recommend it but do not be disappointed with not seeing historic sites.
