What You Can Expect

Rome in One Day Segway Tour with Lunch

Explore the top sights of Rome on this fun, full-day Segway tour

Your Segway adventure starts by meeting your tour leader in central Rome, where you’ll receive an iPod with audio-visual summaries that provide information about each stop. After an introduction and practice session to get familiar with your 2-wheeled electric Segway, take off along Rome’s historical streets for your exploration that takes in the city’s ancient and baroque landmarks.

Begin with Ancient Rome. Following your leader, cruise to Capitoline Hill, one of the Seven Hills of Rome, and then pass by the Roman Forum, admiring its ruins while you hear about its history from your audio narration. Glide past Palatine Hill and Circus Maximus on your way to the Colosseum, where you’ll pause for a photo op of the vast amphitheater.

See Piazza dei Cavalieri di Malta for a keyhole view of St Peter’s Basilica, and take a break in the Rose Garden before heading to lunch at a local restaurant. Fill up on Italian dishes such as pizza and bruschetta, accompanied by a glass of wine, espresso and mineral water (see the Itinerary for a sample menu).

After lunch, continue your tour with the Eternal City’s baroque masterpieces. As you cruise through the historical center, pass by the Spanish Steps, Church of Sant’Ignazio, Campo de’Fiori and Piazza Navona, home to Bernini’s Fountain of the Four Rivers. Visit a viewpoint to look out at St Peter’s, and stop by the Trevi Fountain, where legend says that if you throw a coin in the water, you’ll return to Rome. Your tour ends when you arrive back at the starting point.

Note: The order of sights suggested in the tour description is subject to change on the day of your tour.

I did the full day tour and especially enjoyed my morning segment and lunch! I was a little afraid to do this but the guides are patient and kind and it truly was a thrill to see Rome this way. It was very hot and I was so glad I wasn't just tramping around on my feet every day. I should mention that I was a solo traveler and over 60! There were a lot of young adults too. This tour is for everyone:

The previous night we also took a Night time Segway tour from this company. During the two part daytime tour we visited a couple of the same sites but was a totally different experience during the day. The whole day tour is broken up into three parts - a morning segway tour and an afternoon segway tour with lunch in-between at a local restaurant lunch was excellent - I highly recommend the lasagna. Each of our tours had a different Segway Guide. This allowed us to hear some different perspectives. Our morning tour consisted of a group of 8 and our afternoon was supposed to have 5 but the other two cancelled that morning so we basically had our own private tour which was wonderful. All tour guides make sure that each of the passengers feel safe on their segway machines. Taking a segway tour of Rome is the ONLY way to see everything the city has to offer. Zipping past the other tours in their walking groups really made us appreciate how much nicer and efficient this way of touring really is to see Rome.

It was a hot and crowded day in Rome, but we still enjoyed both parts of this Segway adventure. In the morning, Bruno showed us all kinds of sights. I think our favorite stops on the morning tour were the market in Campo del Fiori and tossing our coins in the Trevi Fountain. Bruno did an awesome job making sure that everyone was comfortable on the Segways and then describing many of our stops. There were 4 in the group, so his bilingual French / English explanations were detailed and informative. In addition, he pulled out Ipads at some of the stops for even more information. Flavio led our afternoon tour - 5 of us with German and English descriptions. He was a lot of fun to follow on a Segway. Our favorite stops on the afternoon tour Ancient Rome were the amazing overlooks - loved the one in the orange grove overlooking the dome of St. Peter's which got smaller the closer you got to it!

It's a bit late to write my review but....never too late! I joint this super fun and exciting Segway Tour on 4th of May. Before the tour, I just wondered if I could visited all those famous ancient attractions mentioned in the itinerary within several hours, but that's true and all the way riding on the Segway was so cool!! I forgot the name of our tour leader in the morning session but just remembered this handsome young guy is tall and gentle, and in the afternoon, we visited the best places of Rome with Flavio I hope my memory is correct! I wanted to thank them again and tell them that this Happy Tour is the most unforgettable memory in Rome to me.

This is the only way to tour Rome. We covered over 20 miles during the tour and had a wonderful lunch. No way to walk 20 miles in one day and you have very knowledgeable guides telling you about all the sites. I reccomend the nighttime tour in the heat of Summer.

Awesome guides, friendly and knowledgeable. First time ever on a Segway and it was really easy to learn. Great way to explore Roma, especially if you don't have much time. Great lunch included as well.

We loved our Segway tour! There is no way to see all the places we saw in one day, had we been walking. The Segways enabled us to go uphill, downhill, through market squares and down streets with ease. Our tour guide Julia was fantastic! She was so patient in teaching us how to ride since it was our first time.

when they say rome in a day they mean it. we been to rome 4 times and have never seen so much in one day. some of the places we have seen before but not like this.. up close and with such a small group. we learned alot more in the one day then we did in the 4 last times. marcello am guide and eddy pm guide were both great. we had a perfect time. it is a LONG day and it is a little hard on the feet but hang in there. well worth it.
