The Colosseum and Roman Forum are rarely left off any first-time visitor’s Rome itinerary, but Casa di Augusto and Casa di Livia — excavated residences once inhabited by Emperor Augustus and only opened to visitors in 2015 — are two attractions still relatively unknown to the general public. This 3.5-hour, small-group tour combines a private visit to these exquisitely well-preserved sites, as well as skip-the-line tours of the Roman Forum and Colosseum.
A really excellent tour, our guide Ferdinand was clearly deeply knowledgeable - and very tolerant of our relative ignorance do you know who Vergil was etc! The Casa d Augusto and Casa di Livia were very special, the wall paintings were remarkable, colours still vibrant in many cases. And the sun was shining in the Forum. Recommended.
The tour was amazing, especially the Casa Di Livia and Casa Di Agusto. The tour guide was personable and very knowledgeable. I liked the that size of the group was fairly small. In addition, the customer service was above and beyond. Due to our travel plans we had to change the days of our tour at the last minute. The customer service at Viator accomodated this request extremely fast and gave us no hassle or trouble. I will absolutely look at Viator tours first when planning my next trip.
Get a fantastic tour of the Colosseum and the Roman Forum! Our guide was knowledgable, gave us so much information about the rise and fall of the Roman empire. Told us all about what the different uses of the Colosseum over the last century... at the time there were scaffoldings all around it as they were restoring it... but have since been removed. I can only imagine how glorious it looks now. The icing on the cake of this tour was the private tour of the Casa di Augusto and Casa di Livia. WOW! This space was opened up especially for our group which was small and we had access to the home of Augusto and Livia. If you're into ancient Roman history, this is the tour for you! They even adjusted the tour a bit to target the kids and give them some fun facts that kept them interested too.
Wonderful and great tour guide. Cash di Livia was so amazing. The history on this tour was so interesting and to imagine we walked in the footsteps of the ancients.
Our guide was fun, knowledgeable, and the tour in everything we expected. Highly recommended for the cost.
Our guide was so knowledge of all things Roman. Seeing the inside of casa di Augusta and livia were definitely a highlight. So different with the colors in tact you can easily imagine what life was like when they lived there. Amazing
The tour with Maria as our guide was really great. Weather didn't cooperate but nothing you can do about that.
Would highly recommend the tour particularly using Maria as a guide.
This tour was one of the best things we did in Rome. Our guide, whom I'm sorry I forgot his name, is an archeologist. His knowledge and enthusiasm was so contagious it was like he was story telling from long ago. Our group of 12, with no other groups, was taken through locked gates to the site dating back to 730BC, where they believe Romulus walked, the house of Augusto, 40 BC, fully preserved rooms with spectacular frescos and more for about 2 hours. With the general public, we wound our way through the towering buildings of the Forum and of course the Collosseum, which almost speaks for itself. My fellow travellers and I still are talking about this tour. Amazing!
