Amazing and I could not recommend it enough. Loved our guide Luigi! He was amazing and informative and I would go on this tour again next time I travel to Rome.
Its awsome. Its a rainy and stormy day which made it quite tricky for the tour, but our guide Lauren is awsome. She kept telling the history on the way and also found the way to skip puddle. Shes very knowledgeable to tell us stories and details of the colosseum and also the history alongside. Highly recommend to join tour for colosseum unless you have full background of Roman history. The only regret is not enough time to take pictures. It would be good if you can go back the same area the next day and you can take as many as pictures you want. One day is not enough be there since many attractions around. Awsome tour and thanks to Lauren.
Went here a year ago sorry about the late review but better late than never. We actually visited the house that the first emperor and his family lived in for the first twenty years of his reign. Tile work, frescos and brick work still remain amazing.
Colosseum just the word exclusively moves anyone. YES it is still magnificent a must see for anyone that is into Rome, I can still remember our guide she was an archaeology student in her last year of university. She was very good bottom line this was a great tour, leisurely but with substance. A great tour.
Although we weren't able to go into Casa di Augusto and Casa di Livia due to renovation closure, the tour was fabulous and the tour guide was exceptionally knowledgeable and attentive.
Marta was fabulous glide. Extremely good on facts and interesting sidelights that revealed the real Rome at the time of the Caesars
This was a great tour. There was so much history in this whole area that I would not recommend going without a tour guide. You would miss so much and I know that I appreciated everything I was seeing more because I got the history behind it. Also, anytime there was a line we walked right through which was nice. The emperor's residences we went to were amazing and so interesting. Our tour guide, Allesia I think I'm spelling that wrong, was so great. She was very knowledgeable and had a lot of great information. There is so much history packed in this tour that the amount of information can be overwhelming. It was incredibly hot when we went in August. I would recommend wearing shoes you don't mind getting dusty and bring a lot of water, at least 2 bottles per person.
Our Guide Valentina was very knowledgable and accommodating. We truly enjoyed the colosseum tour. Don't miss this one. we had a private tour into the house of Augusto... Amazing! The forum and city center brought you back in time. took a lot of pictures to remember the day.
Just had the best tour possible. We had the most amazing guide who made life in about 100 ad come to life. I unfortunately cannot remember his name but he was American and was an archaeologist and just so well informed. We walked around the Colosseum and surrounds for about four hours in which he really took us back in time. We were so lucky to have had him as our guide.
This tour is amazing! The tour guide really did a fantastic job! She was very knowledgeable and told us one of a kind stories while showing us recreation photos. She really brought the ruins to life. We learned so much! It was an unforgettable tour! The private apartment is a must see. There are frescoes on the wall that are thousands of years old. It is literally like stepping back in time a real time machine feeling. There are bathroom breaks and time to pause and take pictures. We couldn't be happier with this tour. We've booked many tours through Viator and they have all been very professional and fantastic! We will definitely go through them again!
Our tour guide was very knowledgable and engaging. He was enthusiastic and kept you very interested, the time flew by! Great having skip the queue access to the Forum and the Colosseum and the effectively private tour of Augustus' Apartments was incredible, very well preserved, a real highlight not to be missed! The use of earpieces and a microphone was also great, didn't miss any information and allowed you to look around whilst still hearing everything that was said. I would highly recommend!
This ended up being an awesome tour! Our guide Simone brought the experience to life with his deep knowledge he is an archeologist. Go as early as possible to avoid the heat we went in late June and crowds. Normally, the tour begins in the Colisseum and then goes to the Forum. However, Simone decided to go through the Forum first and it was a super smart call. We had the place practically to ourselves. Simone not only explained the history behind the various ruins but also had a satchel full of large photos of the as is and renderings of how they were back in the day - very helpful in visioning how the Forum really looked.
After the Forum we moved to the Colesseum which frankly was a zoo with the crowds. We did jump the line and only waited 5 minutes to get in. Once again Simone's deep knowledge was extremely insightful and his description of the experiences of a first time, young gladiator of say 16 years of age brought home how barbaric those times really were.
BTW Casa di Agusto and Casa di Liva are homes within the Forum and going inside those was like going to Pompeii so it's worthwhile added these to your tour.
Lastly, my wife asked Simone how the Italians feel about the Catholic Church plundering the Roman ruins for marble, etc to build St. Peters and other Vatican buildings. His response, The Church is us and we are the Church. 'nuff said...
Love the history and the chance to see inside a Roman house with a very small group. Great guide!
Incredible tour. The Roman Forum and surroundings are overwhelming in their size and history but by focusing on Casa di Augusto and Casa di Livia we are able to get a very clear understanding of a very important era of Roman history. In addition to the areas of focus we were given a great overview of many other sites and the Colosseum. Our tour guide was incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about the sites that we visited. I cannot recommend this tour highly enough. Gave me a clear taste of the history of this incredible city.
Perfect! The tour lady was amazing, knew a lot of history, was very experienced and kind. Thanks!
We enjoyed this tour our guide was informative and helpful. The group was smaller which is definitely a plus you cover a lot in this tour its quite long so bring your walking shoes and Rome was very hot in late may. The colosseum plus the forum plus the frescos of emperor Augustus and his wife Livias palaces that have been unearthed was great really worth it. Skip the line was great here as the colosseum is very busy, to be able to walk straight in was a big plus.
Informative and a great run through these major sites including the Roman Forum. Our guide was very informative and in fact graduated University as an archeologist. Having the opportunity to see Casa di Augusto and Livia were both interesting and not available to the general public. Glad we booked this
Sev was fantastic. Funny and the most informative and colorful tour I have been on. My only regret is not having him on a Vatican tour. Take care of Sev as he is a significant asset to your company
This tour was amazing! Our tour guide was absolutely fantastic. He was incredibly knowledgeable and entertaining. We had exclusive access to Octavian and #39;s and Livia and #39;s rooms. You need to do this tour.
Great tour with an archeologist as a guide! (At least in our case). Casa di Augusto was a highlight of our time in Rome.
A fantastic tour, definitely worth doing. Our guide was very knowledgeable and interesting to listen to. It was good to be able to jump the queues and we were given many historical facts that you would not have got if you went on your own. The Cas di Augusta and Cas di Livia were so interesting and it is a shame that they are not going to be doing this part of the tour any more. I think hearing this made the tour even more special as we were able to see something that lots of people have not been lucky enough to see.
The tour was extremely good, with the first part taking in the two homes of Augusto and Livia and this included access to their private rooms. The frescos' and mosaics were stunning, as if painted only yesterday, denfinately worth seeing. We then proceeded to the Forum area, again given insights and facts about the buildings and daily life. Then onto the Colesseum, which was just amazing. The tour took roughly three hours andinvolved a lot of walking, so ensure decent footwear and take water. Our guide Chicilia, was very friendly and extremely informative, she even told us about one of the Frescos taken from Casa di Livia was currently on display in a museum. The next day we went to the museum and we were not disappointed by this amazing Fresco. The tour was definitely worth the money and we felt we had learned more about Roman way of life.
Francesco was a great guide. Being a student in art history, he knew an enormous amount of information about all of the things we visited. He was very knowledgeable and quite personable as wel.Casa di Augusto was a BIG highlight of this tour, and with the limited access it has, it should not be missed!! Meeting up was painless at the coliseum. Initially, I was disappointed by not spending enough time in the Colosseum, but the amount of time we spent everywhere else more than made up for it. In fact, although the Colosseum was spectacular, there was much more information and knowledge to be had at the Forum and the many buildings we visited there. Thank you!!!
