What You Can Expect

Skip the Line: Small-Group Colosseum, Forum, Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel and St Peter’s Basilica Walking Tour

Skip the lines at the Vatican and Colosseum on this small-group full-day Rome tour

Your Rome walking tour starts near the Colosseum, where you’ll meet your guide and small group. Use your skip-the-line ticket to avoid the main entrance line, and go inside for a tour of the amphitheater’s first and second levels. Listen to stories about the gladiator battles and animal fights that once took place here, and hear how the structure took nine years to build.

Continue over to the Roman Forum, the former center of Ancient Rome’s political and commercial enterprises. Admire remnants of sites like the House of the Vestal Virgins, and stroll up Palatine Hill for a view of the ruins and Circus Maximus. Then walk along the winding laneways of Rome’s historical center, passing by Piazza Venezia, the Trevi Fountain and the 2nd-century Pantheon, before taking a taxi to Vatican City.

Take a break for lunch (own expense), and then enter the Vatican Museums with your skip-the-line admission. This complex of galleries houses one of the world’s biggest collections of art, most famously the Renaissance pieces by masters like Raphael and Michelangelo. Visit Raphael’s Rooms, the Gallery of Tapestries and the Gallery of Maps, and then head to the crown jewel, the Sistine Chapel, to be awed by Michelangelo’s iconic frescoes The Creation of Adam and The Last Judgement.

Your tour ends at St Peter’s Basilica, one of the largest churches in the world, known for its dome that dominates the Rome skyline. The church is also home to more artwork, such as Michelangelo’s La Pietà sculpture and Bernini’s altar canopy. Your guide will say goodbye here, where you are free to continue exploring on your own.

Please note: A minimum of two people per booking is required. The order of the itinerary described may be subject to change on the day of your tour.

5 star rating: Highly Recommended October 2016

This was an amazing tour covering all the main areas that you would want to see when limited on time, achieving it all in one day. It is split in to two parts, so the morning was spent covering the Colosseum, Palatine Hill, the Forum, Trevi Fountain and lots in between. We were then taken by taxi to The Vatican where we did our own thing for lunch before meeting up with our second guide Rossella, she was very passionate about all she had to tell us and we did learn a lot that day. It was worth every penny and the time involved. We do recommend this tour, It is small and very personal. I felt it was paced just right with sufficient time to look and take pictures as we went.

We only had a short time in Rome, so we wanted to see as much as we could in one day - without being too crammed. This tour was perfect. We started at the Colosseum, then walked to Palatine Hill and the Forum, the Pantheon and Trevi fountain. Our guide was Thomas and he was brilliant. Very knowledgeable he actually subtly corrected another tour guide while we were at the Colosseum, very organised and friendly. There were only 7 of us for this part of the tour, which ensured a very personal experience for us all. The pace was good, the historical detail very informative and made fun along the way, perfect for our 12 year old daughter too. Thanks Thomas! We then travelled by taxi to the Vatican where we met our afternoon tour guide, with only 5 of us for this part of the day. Another wonderful experience. Highly recommend this tour

Great tour and excellent guide. We chose the small group tour for a more personalised experience and that is what we got. The guide was very knowledgeable and as we were in a group of only six, he had more time to explain things and answer questions. Not only the tours of the Colosseum and Vatican City were amazing, but the walk through the Forum and the old City of Rome were thoroughly enjoyable and informative.

We had a great time, very informative and interesting. Great pace to cover all that Romehas to offer. Our First half tour guide Rachel was so helpful and personable. After the tour was over she even sent us an email with several different restaurant suggestions/reviews for us to try out. Great Tour!

2 star rating: It was OK, but could have been better July 2015

Thomas, our tour guide in the morning, was brilliant. However, the afternoon was laboured and monotonous.
