This was a super awesome tour! Piece of advice - if your tour is the morning one, get to the meeting place 30 minutes before and walk to St Peter's square you should be meeting pretty close to it. Seeing the outside of St. Peter's Basilica and the square in the early hours it was 7 am for me before hordes of tourists flood this sacred place IS a magic experience.
Now to the point - the tour is extremely well organized and the tour guide is great mine was Rita - an eccentric, funny and very knowledgeable lady! I loved having the ear-piece, makes hearing the guide over hundreds of tourists' chatter very clear.
Another plus is skipping the lines. Believe me, even in January in the rain the lines are long at 7:30 am already. Having Vatican museums to yourself without crowds is amazing! We did not have to wait a minute anywhere.
My only wish would be to spend more time in Vatican museums. May be do a tour a bit longer, charge a bit more, but let people see more of this truly amazing place. Time spent in St. Peter's is sufficient.
Another piece of advice - after hearing all the interesting things the guide had to point out in St. Peter's, I was overwhelmed. This is a mind blowing cathedral. But guess what? The entrance to the cathedral is fee!!!! After the tour was over, we were left in the middle of the square. I went straight back to the line going into the cathedral. It took me about 30 minutes to get back in may take longer in high season but now I could take as much time as I wanted to look at things I loved but had to hurry by to keep up with the tour, and thanks to the tour I just took I knew what I was looking at. Do it and later do climb to the top of the cathedral. It is a long a difficult climb 532 steep steps, but the views of Rome are amazing! .....and one more thing - a free and clean bathroom is in the gift book store located on the left if your back is turned to the cathedral, right outside of the square....bathrooms in Rome are hard to come by and are never marked unless you know where to look
Wish it wasn't sooooo crowded. But amazing to see with own eyes.
Great tour. I was able to skip the long lines at the Vatican Museums. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and explained everything throughout the tour. I will definitely recommend to family and friends.
Excellent tour guide. He knew the area well and gave us adequate time in each area.
Fredriko our guide was great! So knowledgeable of intire tour. This tour is amazing and we all are 100 satisfied! Wow many people standing in a huge line to get in, you and walk right pass them and get in. You must do the tour or you stand in a line for hours! You will be very satisfied, everyone was completely satisfied money well spent!!
The tour guide for this tour was amazing! She was so passionate about what she was talking about, provided a lot of information I would not have known otherwise and also provided great opportunities for photos. She took a topic that could have been boring and turned it into the most fascinating story telling! I also appreciated that she paid extra attention to the radios - I had been on a few tours where radios weren't working and it totally ruined it. High recommended!
It was an extraordinary experience. Our tour guide was excellent. Highly recommend this tour.
Great tour guide, well worth it. Lots of stories and knowledge and skip the line
Our guide sorry....Sylvia or Sophia was a resident Italian art historian with a wealth of information. She was patient, organized and kept her lovely group together and we all survived the sea of tourists at the Vatican. She explained all the important details of the buildings and the artwork that we saw. It is great to have a calm voice amid the din to give you information about what you are seeing. You could walk through these halls on your own but it is not the same. Walking tours have guides that give you their perspective of the history with a few modern twists here and there. I enjoyed it and am amazed at the talent of Michaelangelo. Thank you.
This tour was great!! Our tour guide, Linda, was very informative and brought us through all the areas with enough time to enjoy it. Definitely recommend this tour
Informative and tour guide David B. was very engaging. Vatican on a Saturday is very crowded. Recommend the early tour.
David was our guide for this trip, and he is a great art historian, and gave an in-depth background of the tapestries, sculptures and paintings.
Great tour! Only about 25 people. Our tour guide Markus was really informative. The tour in all went about 3.5hours. Well worth the money spent and skipping the line was great.
Highly recommend! we skipped the queue, our tour guide was very patient and made sure nobody got lost. Absolutely amazing and worth the money!
The tour guide was very knowledgeable and fun. The tour met on time and we were on our way to The Vatican at the perfect time. People should be told they cannot wear shorts or short skirts, as well as tank tops or uncovered shoulders if they want to enter these sights. Some ladies had to buy something to cover their legs or shoulders before the tour began. These three places are amazing and the art is breathtaking. So much to see but impossible to see it all in just this tour but enough to get a taste for more.
Our guide was a lot of fun, and while the Vatican was crowded not unsurprisingly it was beautiful and well worth paying to skip the line.
We've skipped a very long line. It was a really wonderful tour with precious information
A guided tour was necessary as we moved between the buildings. Our guide, David, was absolutely a plus, as he was very knowledgeable and gave us a great summary before we go into the exhibit or the chapel. This help immensely and we didn't feel lost. David was funny and help everyone to be engaged throughout the 3 hours tour. We had a small group of 8 and this was a great tour to be apart of. Best to take the earlier tour at 8:30am, as there are more people at later time.
Definitely the best way to take these tours! We saw huge lines of people waiting in the hot sun for hours for tickets. Our tour guide David S I think, was very professional and is an art historian graduate. He kept us on schedule, all the while checking his numbers and informing us in precise detail, the numerous and interesting facts along the way. Highly recommended.
Good tour guide that gave a lot of information while still moving efficiently in the packed crowds.
Our tour was absolutely Wonderful due to our tour guide, David. He was very knowledgeable and made it interesting and funny. He even was very good at handling the cranking people who were not dealing with the heat. Loved him! Highly Recommend!
Skip the line is the only way to go, I felt sorry for all the hordes of people waiting to get their tickets as we walked right in. I was traveling with a 19 and 20 year olds, every time was perfect. They will never forget the beauty we saw in the Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel and St Peter Basilica. I will always check Viator before leaving the country for travel.
