Fabulous , it was a Wed so the Pope was using St Peters , but our guide was really great , plenty time for photos . the paintings were breathtaking
Awesome! Got us in fast and learned so much about all the areas.
Excellent tour! We were initially picked up at our hotel which is helpful, then taken by bus to a meeting point close to the Vatican where we were divided into groups based on language. Our guide was very good, we learned so much as we walked through these amazing sights. Definitely a must to do a skip the line tour and we walked past long queues, All of the sights are very crowded and the guide tries to give plenty of time to take pictures and we are moved along the various areas. At the end we were conveniently led back to the tour offices where there is a large souvenir shop, where they collect headsets. it was ok though, there were free bathrooms and we did pick up a few gifts there.
Our guide Matteo is what made this tour worthwhile. The day we were there it was very crowded and busy, and yet Matteo made us feel like we were the only ones there. He kept us moving, easily got us around and through the other groups, and was a fountain of knowledge, providing information and details I have would never have gotten from guide books. I've been to the museum and St. Peter's before, so I knew what to expect, but this tour went above and beyond. We were even picked up at our hotel by van and taken to the starting location. That, to us, was the real bonus for this tour. It was unfortunate that a return was not offered because, if it had been, that would have made this tour perfect.
We got picked up from the hotel on time. Our guide was very nice, friendly and very knowledgeable. The tour was great, there was so much to take in, I took masses of photos so I could look back on them to try and remember it all. It's a shame you can't take photos in the Sistine Chapel, but completely understand why. There was no transport back, so we walked back to our hotel, which was interesting as we saw parts of Rome we wouldn't necessarily have seen.
Muy bueno, todo perfecto , el guía Fabio se porto de 10 , súper atento. Muy recomendable.
Excellent tour. Guide was very informative and pointed out most interesting things. Very well organised, picked up from hotel and taken to the Vatican. Skip the line, well worth it. We arrived at 8.15 and the queue was already very long. Would definitely recommend this tour.
Excellent, our guide Valerio was very helpful and insightful. We were able to have a well paced tour, and enjoyed it a lot. I would recommend to add some time for souvenir shopping in vatican city.
Touring the Vatican was on our must do list during our first visit to Rome. We opted for hotel pick-up as we weren't sure how to best navigate the City...we were glad we did. Unfortunately, it is pick-up only so you are on your own to make it back to your hotel. We visited on a Monday and it was very busy we were grateful to be able to skip the line...worth the cost of the tour by itself. Our tour guide Linda was very knowledgeable and pointed out many interesting things along the tour. However, we did feel like we were being herded along a bit and the crowd was quite overwhelming at times. For those of you who like to take photos there are a couple of places you will not be allowed to take pictures, most notably the Sistine Chapel.
Overall, it was a good experience and the beauty of the Vatican was amazing and something everyone should see. I would definitely recommend the tour but not on Monday and not during the height of tourist season if you can avoid it.
San Antonio, TX
Collection from the hotel was on schedule but upon arrival at the Vatican the disorganisation began. Having disembarked from the taxi we were advised to head across the road to 'The lady in pink' The tour guide, Jane should have had a printed list of those on the tour, but instead asked each person for a contact number/address which she wrote in a notebook. We then left the meeting point and halfway to the entrance she discovered 7 people were missing. Mobile calls followed and twenty minutes later the missing people arrived. The distribution of the radio units was somewhat chaotic and we then proceeded to the entrance. Through security quickly and then a further wait 15 minutes while the tickets were purchased and distributed. Finally the tour began and it was very good and Jane was very knowledgeable, however the amount of tours in progress and throng of people made full appreciation very difficult. The commercialisation of the Vatican detracts from what should have been a great experience. The tour was not good value for money.
The only benefit of signing up for this tour is to be able to skip the line. The line to get into the Vatican Museum is insane, but there is a lane for those on a group tour, which gets you right up to the entrance. The tour guide was a nice guy, but quite boring. You are given a receiver box and a earpiece so you can hear him talk while on the tour.
The place is crowded, really crowded. You have to push your way through the never ending halls and rooms to make it to the Sistine Chapel. We left the group after an hour of so because we could not take it anymore. If you are going to do this, do not turn in your headset just yet
We made our way through the various halls and rooms, and finally made it to the Sistine Chapel. The chapel is not as big as you would expect, but none you're here to gaze at the ceiling. The paintings are pretty cool to see, but you will quickly want to leave. The room is overcrowded with people just siting and guards all around yelling at the crowd to remain quiet.
When you make your exit at the back of the chapel, take the exit to the right. This is where the headset comes in. It's the group tour exit, and also a shortcut to get to St. Peter's. Follow the signs and enter the Basilica. Catch a glimpse of the Pieta, confess your sins, and head out.
What to do with the headset? Either take it back to your hotel if instructed to do so or turn them in to someone working with the tour company, outside of St. Peter's, and get a RECEIPT proving that you turned it in.
Huge group of tourists split into large groups, hearded to the Vatican was only part of the problem. Our guide spoke English with a very strong accent which made understanding her through the head sets hard. This detracted from any enjoyment.
We got the tour in Paris so we got this one in Rome and we were very dissatisfied. 1st they pick us up at the wrong time and blamed us before switching our time to the right one. DIDNT pick us up at the hotel and made us run around Rome looking for their office and didnt bring us back to the hotel.
Tour started late guide could not be understood well, had to leave tour early because of time limit to catch ship. Was told would be over at 5:30. Never saw ST. PETERS. Charles Dettmer
The tour was not as advertised. We were dropped off at a Foot Locker on a corner near the Vatican. We finally were met by a tour guide. We still waited over an hour before we got in the doors. The tour guide was rude. Would not recommend.
