I took this tour with my mom, Viviana Carbonara was our guide, she is a very knowledgeable and intelligent lady.
Hadrian's Villa is an ancient archaeological site, even before Jesus Christ was born, Viviana with her interesting stories, she helped us live the moment, she simply took us back in time, we love history and she shared with us all the important information we needed to know about this place.
After Hadrian's villa we stopped for lunch, it was a typical Italian restaurant in Tivoli, the food was delicious and everything was perfect.
After that we went to Villa d'Este, another place with very beautiful gardens and fountains, Beautiful villa with very important paintings. Viviana patiently explained about each and every painting, about the different rooms.
I recommend you all to take this tour, as you will go back in time, these two places have different architectural designs.
Hopefully you will have Viviana as a guide, as she is an amazing person.
Thank you for everything.

If you have the time, this trip is not to be missed. Words can not describe the beauty that the eye will encounter. From the gardens, to the fountains, the water ponds, and the overall view, one can only stand in awe of all that you will see. Be prepared to for several stair cases and walking in order to see all that Tivoli has to offer.
Janet of Rome Your Way is excellent , she is not only knowledgeable but also has a sense of humor she definitely did her job well..
Hadrian's Villa is really in ruins - however, it is possible to imagIne it in its grandeur days. Lunch in Tivoli was very good - just right with 2 courses including water, wine and an espresso after. Villa Este is amazing - over 200 fountains - beautiful gardens and views. Our guide, Mara, was a delight! Definitely recommend as a quick day trip from busy Rome. One note - lots of walking, steps and some steep grades. May not be suitable for people with walking difficulties.
Great trip. Very knowledgeable docent to lead both destinations. Good bus accommodation. Highly recommended
Great tour. Knowledgeable Tour guide, great organization for lunch. Certainly a good use of time. One of the best.
Alfredo, our guide was excellent. He really knows his Roman history. We learned a lot and had a very good day. The lunch was delicious and we were served a typical roman meal. I definitely recommend this excursion!
Do not hesitate going on this amazing tour. The bus and walking tour was refreshing, informative and so beautiful! Many thanks again to our wonderful guide Inger, for unveiling the details and loveliness of both these awesome places in Italy. Hadrian's Villa is today a pillaged ruins, but Inger greatly brought out the imaginative beauty that it once was when first built. The lunch provided in the darling town of Tivioli was both hearty and delicious at the authentically-styled restaurant. Afterwards, visiting the absolutely amazing Villa d'Este was the ultimate experience for us. Its architecture and interior decorations were over-the-top. Then, strolling through the awesome landscaping and gorgeous hundreds of highly carved water fountains was like heaven on earth. We easily could have lingered there in the gardens for the rest of the day, just enjoying the beauty around us.
Our guide Jo was amazing! She made sure we saw and understood the significance of Hadrian's Villa and its relationship to the marvelous Villa d'Este. We'd do this tour again!
This tour had a lot of promise, but unfortunately Rome experienced their first storm and rain in over 5 months and the tour was washed out. We did get to have the 2 course lunch which was delicious.
Apart from the confusion about this tour goung ahead or not, this was a fantastic tour. There only ended up being four of us so we basically had a private tour. It was great.... no enormous coaches, no crowds, no feeling like cattle herded from one spot to another! Villa Adriana and Villa d'Este were both amazing. The order in which they were done was also excellent as Villa d'Este was much cooler than Villa Adriana, so covering Villa Adriana in the morning was very wise. We had a great guide named Alfredo. Would definitely recommend this tour especially if you get a small group and not a great big coach load!!.
This was an amazing day trip to Hadrian's Villa and Villa d'Este in Tivoli. It was absolutely one of the highlights of our two weeks in Europe. Our tour guide, Nicole, was knowledgeable, passionate and warm. She could not have been better. She really helped us understand Hadrian's world as it was. And then it was helpful to see the beautiful fountains at Villa d'Este to be able to contrast Hadrian's Villa with one that wasn't in ruins. The fountains there were spectacular. The lunch was lovely as was the brief walk through town. The day was pretty much perfect. I HIGHLY recommend this excursion.
An excellent day trip just outside of Rome. Hadrian's Villa is an extensive archeological site where Alfredo took us on an informative tour, pointing out many places of interest and filling in the historical points with expertise. He made sure that everyone was well looked after and added special points of interest suited to each traveller in the group. After a typical Roman lunch in Tivoli, we then toured Villa D'Este and the Tivoli gardens. The gardens and fountains were cool, with plenty of shade... just what was needed during the hot August days. It was a refreshing break from the city, with excellent tour information, and a charming tour guide.
Our guide, Nicole, was one of the best guides I've ever had for a tour. She was engaging, funny and full of information. I highly recommend this excursion.
Excellent day out. I haf wanted to visit Hadrians Villa for many years and loved it, also Villa d'Este. So glad I booked the trip with lunch, which was very good and relaxing between the two visits. Mara, our guide, was excellent and very helpful and encouraging with my arthritic walking problems.
Superb day-long tour. Outstanding lunch. Knowledgeable guide who gave us plenty of time to see the Villa d'Este and Hadrian's Villa.
This tour was on the last day of our sty on Rome no was the best. Nicole was a great tour guide and very considerate with the weather being so hot especially at Hadrian's Villa. She took us to a wonderful place for lunch and then the afternoon at villa d'Este. The gardens were just out of this World and something we did not expect to see in Rome. Many thanks Nicole for a great day.
A lovely little tour of both destinations. Bewarenot too much shade at Hadrian's Villa, so it's quite hot. Our guide was thorough and patient.
The lunch in Tivoli was deliciouspasta Amitriciana, glasses of wine, and veal with prosciutto and a little salad. Villa d'Este is gorgeousthe gardens are sublime, particularly when it's warm out. Definitely check this out if you have a free day while in Rome!
Villa d'Este was interesting, but I went primarily to see Hadrian's Villa. Frankly I expected to see something fairly modest in size. I was amazed at the extent of the ruins. Very impressive. I was glad I went and our guide was both enthusiastic and knowledgeable. Enjoyable day.

If you are thinking of visiting Tivoli to see Hadrian's Villa and Villa D'Este I would certainly recommend a full day trip if you can spare the time. Our trip involved a departure from Rome at around 10 in the morning with a short half hour trip to Hadrian's Villa. Our group was relatively small with only 12 making for a very enjoyable range of conversations. Alfredo, our guide for the day, conveyed the magnificence of the original palace complex and the sheer scale of development with insightful commentary. Whilst so much of the original structures and fittings have been removed by earlier generations it is still possible to gain a understanding of the amazing ingenuity employed to create the complex. We then headed into Tivoli for a delicious set menu lunch at a local restaurant. We reconvened to then visit Villa D'Este with a brief visit in the Villa itself learning of its history and development before heading to the magnificent gardens and fountains. It is said that this garden was the inspiration for Versailles. The gardens are very impressive and simply beautiful. If you are in Rome and have time make the effort to take this trip you will not be disappointed.
This tour was one of the highlights of our week in Rome. Staring with Hadrian's Villa, a look into the ancient Roman Empire and then on to Villa d'Este, one of those places that everyone must see and it should be on your bucket list. The gardens and the aqua engineering used to create the gardens and their multiple water features is awe inspiring.
A great day if you have a day to spare in Rome.
This was a very pleasant day trip from Rome. Our guide, Inger, was knowledgeable and great company. We were very pleased with the transportation accommodation and the lunch was enjoyable. There were only 9 in our group so the entire trip felt like a very personal tour. Highly recommend.
