What You Can Expect

Gladiator's Arena and Colosseum Underground Tour

Colosseum

Make your way to a meeting point by the Colosseum for an 8:30am start time, then follow your guide into a limited-access area below the building. You’ll be retracing the footsteps of Roman gladiators as your guide shares stories and facts from the city’s history; from the Colosseum underground, continue to the arena and the third level, perfect for snapping interior photos of the Colosseum.

After 1.5 hours in the Colosseum, continue to the adjacent Roman Forum, following the Via Sacra that was ancient Rome’s main street. This was the city’s main religious and political center, and you’ll see the Temple of the Vestal Virgins, the Arch of Septimius Severus, and the Arch of Constantine.

Walk as far as Palatine Hill, the most ancient part of Rome, where the guide will share the story of the city’s mythical founders, Romulus and Remus. This 4-hour ancient Rome tour concludes back at the Colosseum, close to public transit, restaurants, and attractions.

This tour was guided by a women who has degrees in history. Her English was very clear and understandable. The directions to the meeting place was very precise and once getting there, was very well organized. The highlight of the trip was the underground. It is hard to believe what took place in this area so many years prior. After leaving the coliseum you are taken to Palatine Hill and the Roman Forum. Again, a lot of information was given. This was a very long tour and quite a bit off walking/stairs the last 2 hours.

This was our best Rome tour by far and I highly recommend taking this tour. Our tour guide was the reason the tour was awesome, his name is Eudaniel Eugene in the US. I believe he has a masters in Rome archaeology and he was extremely knowledgable. How awesome is it to walk the underground rooms of the Colosseum recognizing how much history there is, and how important this place is to western culture! And then walking the Palatine hill where Eudaniel was able to explain how each emperor added on to the palace and how the different layers of construction were from different centuries. I would do this tour again in Eugene was the guide because I now have even more questions!

I wish I could recall the name of our guide. . .but she was amazing! She gave us many facts and led us all around and under the Colosseum, Palatine Hill and the Forum. She took time to explain minute details and kept us all interested for four hours. The group was small. . .Seven of us. I loved this tour and highly recommend it!

Great tour. We had separate tour guides for ancient Rome and Colosseum, both were great. Highly recommend.

Well-managed from the beginning. Easy to access meeting point, knowledgeable and pleasant guide around the Hill and Forum as well as inside the Colosseum. Very few people get to tour the underground, it really gives you the feeling of what that place must have been 2000 years ago. As with everything in Rome, 4 hours are not enough to appreciate everything those 3 sites have to offer but you are up and walking the whole time so they do a good job making sure you see what you need to see and learn just enough.

Tour was done in two parts, with two different guides. Both were incredibly knowledgeable and provided excellent details to help make the sites on the tour come to life. I would highly recommend this tour.

We were on this trip recently on one of the wettest days for Rome. The total tour and guide were so fascinating that we stayed the full four hours. The history of this place was amazing and the tour guide very knowledgeable and approachable. I would highly recommend this tour as it includes ares of stage and underground that is not available on other tours

The 1st part of this tour was awesome. Guide was wonderful and had a great personality. The underground porti kn is handed off to another group and guide. There radios were horrible and the guide talked so fast i got little out of it. Our 1st guide indicated his company was mot authorized to do the under ground part. So sad. He actually hung around until we were done to help 1 couple get to where they needed to be.
