Sample some of Italy's finest and best loved wines on this wine and food tasting experience in Rome

Your food- and wine-tasting experience in Rome provides a delicious opportunity to gain insight into Italy’s long winemaking heritage from an industry pro—your trained sommelier guide. After meeting at a location in central Rome, head to the wine-tasting library of a nearby restaurant and wine store, where you’ll be delighted by the cozy ambience of the room lined with books and bottles of balsamic vinegar, olive oil and fine wine.

Grab your wine glass and gather around the table as your sommelier shares information about Italian wine and how it fits into the country’s beloved culture. During your tasting session, you’ll enjoy samples of six regional wine varietals, including the well-known Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, Rosso di Montalcino and Barolo, considered some of Italy’s finest wines. Each wine is paired with Italian snacks like salami, ham, mozzarella cheese and bruschetta.

While you sip and eat, learn how to distinguish different flavors and aromas and how the food enhances certain aspects of the wines. Your wine knowledge continues to increase as you dive into more detail, such as how to discern if a wine is standard or complex. You may also ask your sommelier any questions before your experience ends outside the wine library. See the Itinerary for a sample menu of food.

This was fun! Again, I was in Rome for work, with only a 24 hour stay. The sommiler was knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Food/wine pairs delicious and thoughtfully done. I generally do not bother bringing wine back from my trips, but I ended up bringing home their pesto and some olive oil. This tour is a good value. I plan to do this again with my husband on a longer visit.

My husband and I very much enjoyed this wine and food tasting experience. Our sommelier, Lindsay, was very enthusiastic and informative about the wine we tasted and it's relationship with the food, and did not once make anyone feel like we were incorrect in our opinions. We also learned so much about Italian varietals and designations, and the complicated history of grapes in Italy. My one regret is that the evening had to end so we didn't get a chance to taste more! The next time we're in Rome, we will definitely make time to visit Rimessa Roscioli for another tasting.

Our Expert Sommelier was so knowledgeable about the wines but also the area where they came from! She showed us maps and really went into what it takes to have a vineyard. I've gone to wine tastings before, but this was like no other. She knew so much, you could really tell this was her passion. Let me tell you...the pesto and tomato sauce was AAAAMAZING!!! We definitely bought some to take home with us. I only wish I would have gotten more! Also ordered 6 bottles of wine to be shipped home! I've already told people about this and hope they go when they are in Rome soon!

This was one of the most fun tours we did on our Trip to Rome. I believe the tour can accommodate 10-12 people but we only had three in our group and we all had went to the same University back in North Carolina. The sommelier was fun, entertaining and educational. He explained what we were drinking and engaged us in conversation and he allowed us time to talk among each other about what we thought. The 6 different wine pairing we tried were all wonderful, considering I wouldn't have picked all of them for myself but with the right pairings it makes the wold of a difference. This was well worth the money as we did not have small glasses and were allowed refills of whatever we liked.

A fantastic way to begin our visit to Rome and Italy. Good wine paired with some interesting cheeses and meats. Had a great time talking with both the sommelier and the other guests. Well worth the cost and time.
