Climb to the summit of Mt Ngongotaha on a scenic ride aboard the Rotorua Gondola. Soak up panoramic views over the city and Lake Rotorua, and spend leisurely time at the top before making your way back down. Alternatively, opt to include one, three, or five luge rides down one of three purpose-built tracks — basic, intermediate or advanced — including a chairlift between rides.

See panoramic views over Lake Rotorua and the city
Enjoy the thrill of riding a luge (if option selected)
Free time to independently explore Mount Ngongotaha
Make your way to the base of the Rotorua Gondola, conveniently located just 6 miles (10 km) from the city center. From your glass-enclosed gondola car, take in the views over Lake Rotorua and the surrounding areas during a scenic ride. When you reach the summit of 1,597-foot (487-meter) Mt Ngongotaha, enjoy free time to snap photos from every angle before re-boarding the gondola for the downward ride.
Optional Luge Ride Select from three luge tracks with six entry points, and whiz down Mt Ngongotaha on a three-wheeled cart. Your ticket allows you to ride the luge either one, three, or five times (depending on option chosen), and a chairlift delivers you back to the top of the mountain between rides. Take a leisurely 1.2-mile (2-km) ride through a redwood forest on the scenic route; ride around chicanes and through a tunnel on the intermediate track; or amp up your adrenaline for a ride with tight turns and dips on the advanced track. The unique braking and steering system ensures the luge ride is fun and easy!
Travel the Gondola to the top of Mount Ngongotaha where they can take in views over Lake Rotorua and the surrounding city.
Love the luge rides and we took 3 rides. My kids even tried the zip line. Kids have to be aged 8 or 9 and above to know how to manoveur and manage the speed. Else they can also hop on with an adult. Scenic is nice and a longer ride compared to intermediate. Intermediate is exciting with all the turns!
I bought the Gondola with 3 luge rides. It was worth it! Gondola + luge + chairlift >> GREAT experience! I shared 1 luge ride with my sister. She said the intermediate ride was better than the scenic for the 2nd round. I did not explore the intermediate becoz I feared it will have more difficult turns to take, but my sister said it was just a faster trail and shorter. The scenic ride was quite long...
took the inlaws over from Oz for the festive holidays - gotta say it was a little slow in the line for the 1st ride of the day but was understandable. great job by the staff for their patience shown here and was well worth the wait! will definitely be back again
fun!!! my friend and I went three times around the track twice on the scenic route and once on the Intermediate Route. The Expert Route or whatever it was called was closed that day so that was a bummer. but fun nonetheless!
We did 5 Luge rides starting with 2 rides on the beginners track and three on the intermediate. The advanced track was closed. Really easy to ride and you are in control of your speed. Great fun and as soon as we got to the bottom of the run, we took the chair lift back to the top for the next run. Longest wait was less than 5 mins. It was fun even if it did rain!
