Make your way to Pier 33 and boar the ferry for the scenic ride to Alcatraz. Be sure to bring a government-issued ID and some layers, as the ride can get chilly. During your 15-minute ride, snap photos of the Golden Gate Bridge, the Bay Bridge and the city's receding skyline.
Arrive at Alcatraz, a former federal prison that's now a National Park and get a brief orientation to the maximum security facility, which operated from 1934 to 1963. Pick up your 2.5-hour self-guided audio tour, available in ten languages, and start exploring. Listen to commentary from former staff and inmates and learn about the stints that famous inmates like Machine Gun Kelly and Al Capone served. When you're finished looking around, hop on the next ferry (ferries depart every thirty minutes) and head back to Pier 33.
Back on the mainland, eat lunch anywhere in the Embarcadero or Fisherman's Wharf area (own expense). Find your way down to the cycling tour departure point, near AT&T Park in the SoMa (South of Market) neighborhood.
Embark on a 3-hour bike tour with a knowledgable local guide through several of San Francisco's most vibrant neighborhoods. Learn about each neighborhood's history and culture while you stop for beer tastings at three popular watering holes. Bars visited may include Thirsty Bear Brewing, Zeitgest, Southern Pacific Brewing Company, Toronado, Magnolia Brewing Company and 21st Amendment. Your first beer is included; feel free to purchase additional drinks and snacks at any of the stops.
Your tour ends at its departure point.

We had a wonderful trip!! Throughly enjoyed Alcatraz, we were on the first boat out in the morning and still felt like we could have spent more time on the island. Ubered over to where we picked up our bikes, helmets and tour guides for our beer tour and off we went! Both the ladies that took us on our tour were wonderful guides and we found some great beer also!! Fun, fun trip!

Really enjoyable! Alcatraz was great but the hidden gem was the bike ride! Well worth doing! You get to see and experience parts of SF that you would never go to on your own!

Best thing I did in San Francisco!!

The bike and brews part was so much fun, it was an easy ride and you got to see parts of San Fran you probably wouldn't normally. Dylan was a great tour guide, he was a lot of fun and even though it was his first time he did a brilliant job.

Great way to meet new people and see San Fran.

The only thing that wasn't super clear was the Alcatraz part, I wasn't sure if I was meeting the tour there or just going it alone. You do do this part on your own, which was fine, it just needed to be clearer.

We didn't do the Small Group Craft Brews and Bike Tour. Don't want to give a low rating when we only did half of it. Sorry

Our tour guide Danny (was his name I think - may have been David)was very knowledgeable and looked after our group super well. His easy going and relaxed but professional approach made the apprehension of bike riding disappear.
Expect a slightly sore bum at the end! But totally worth it. Thanks :D

The Alcatraz tour was nice however the times changes when we first reserved the tour. As for the brewery tour I thought it was amazing and Hunter was very relaxed and dealt with any problems that popped up. My bike didn't work after the second brewery and Hunter took care of it in less than 30 minutes.
