Make your way to Pier 33 and board the ferry for the scenic ride to Alcatraz. Be sure to bring a government-issued ID and some layers, as the ride can get chilly. During your 15-minute ride, snap photos of the Golden Gate Bridge, the Bay Bridge and the city's receding skyline.
Arrive at Alcatraz, a former federal prison that's now a National Park and get a brief orientation to the maximum security facility, which operated from 1934 to 1963. Pick up your 2.5-hour self-guided audio tour, available in ten languages, and start exploring. Listen to commentary from former staff and inmates and learn about the stints that famous inmates like Machine Gun Kelly and Al Capone served. When you're finished looking around, hop on the next ferry (ferries depart every thirty minutes) and head back to Pier 33.
Back on the mainland, eat lunch anywhere in the Embarcadero or Fisherman's Wharf area (own expense). Find your way down to the cycling tour departure point, in the heart of Chinatown.
Embark on a 3 to 4-hour bike tour with a knowledgeable local guide through several of San Francisco's most vibrant neighborhoods. Learn about each neighborhood's history and culture while you stop for beer tastings at three popular watering holes. Bars visited may include Local Brewing Co, Thirsty Bear Brewing, Zeitgest, Southern Pacific Brewing Company, Toronado, Magnolia Brewing Company and 21st Amendment. Your first beer is included; feel free to purchase additional drinks and snacks at any of the stops.
Your tour ends at its departure point.

Awesome tour. You get to see the city up close and personal and visit a variety of breweries with loud local character. Alcatraz lives up to the hype. Well worth it!

This tour was awesome! Went to places we wouldn’t have known existed and got in some exercise to burn off our beer. Had such a great time.

The Alcatraz tour was available in different languages, we dont have any inconvinience picking up the tickets. About the bikes was really great, to know local brew factories

Thoroughly enjoyed our brewery and bike tour. I was worried about riding in traffic and the hills but we kept to easy areas near the wharf and it was easy to navigate the traffic with our guide. The breweries were fun and had great beer. We got to see some areas of SF that we otherwise would not have known about. Alcatraz was fascinating - only wish we'd had more time to explore it. Only complaint was that the meeting point for the bike tour was unclear on website and we initially went to the wrong location.

Alcatraz is a must see in San Francisco. Very fascinating, the only slight downside is waiting in line to get on the boat, but that is unavoidable. The audio tour is very interesting and I enjoyed having free time to wander. The bike tour was fun and there were surprisingly few hills! The only downside here is that you have to get to the venue on your own but our tour guide was knowledgeable about the city and it was nice to get off the beaten path and see different areas

What a great way to spend a day in San Francisco. This was a great way to see very different parts of the bay and city without spending too much time commuting. Alcatraz was a fantastic self-guided audio tour and we spent a good 3 hours there with 30 minute ferry rides to and from providing great views of The Rock and The City. The bike tour was so fun! There were 10 of us and Alexi our guide. We were all well outfitted with gear and height-appropriate bikes, very few hills, safe routes that didn't have us fighting traffic we took off at 230pm on a Monday afternoon so were riding at rush hour a bit. Visited 3 great local breweries - 21st Amendment, Local Brewing and Zeitgeist bike messenger bar all in different parts of the city. Highly recommend this if you are a biker or a beer lover!

It was so much fun!! A great group of bikers and a awesome leader in Danny. We were a little worried about the steep hills, but it ended up not being strenuous at all, we only did 3 slight hills and we learned a lot about the city. The craft brew places we stopped at were a lot of fun, and good beer! I would recommend this to anyone. And we loved going to Alcatraz, we've been to SF multiple times, but had never done Alcatraz before, it was a great experience.
