American River Rafting Day Trip Adventure

Picnic Lunch BBQ

Your trip will begin with pickup from your San Francisco hotel. Led by a local guide, you’ll enjoy a scenic ride as you travel into the Central Valley and stop for a snack or cup of coffee (own expense). As you go, your guide will provide historical commentary about the area as well as any intriguing local tales.

Then continue through the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains to the American River, where you’ll enjoy the thrill of class III rapids for approximately two hours. Make your way through the Racehorse Bend, Meatgrinder, Triple Threat, Rock Garden and, with the help of a guide, the famous rapids of the Troublemaker.

After your trip down the river, climb ashore and enjoy a picnic lunch. After a satisfying day of whitewater rafting and wine tasting, your guide will drop you back off in San Francisco.

The experience was everything I had hoped it would be. The scenery and tranquility between rapids was as enjoyable. It was not as strenuous as I had expected. The bbq was also of a good standard and well executed. The wine tasting rounded the trip off very well, though we only had time for the one winery. The bus driver was also very knowledgeable and accommodating and made a good call for a breakfast stop off. Couldn't fault it at all. Highly recommended. I am now inspired to try some faster rapids.

wine tour ..... ummmm ...... no tour, bit of wine tasting in a shop with a woman who either knew nothing or just simply didn't want to be there. Monotone 1 word answers to any questions and basically a waste of time

2 star rating: It was OK, but could have been better August 2013

Our party of seven spent almost three hours on the river raft and had a blast! Our guide was interesting, knowledgeable and a lot of fun! Our driver was also delightful. However, the bus was uncomfortable. The seats had no arm rests so if you were not strapped in, you would keep falling into the aisle and the air conditioning was not adequate for the very hot day. Because of a delay on the river and a late lunch, we were unable to visit more than one winery which was a big disappointment! The winery that we did visit was not much of anything. It was very small and not impressive. The bus ride back to San Francisco was a long nightmare. The driver took an alternate route because of traffic and got lost and the return trip ended up taking four hours, which was unbearable in the hot bus.
