What You Can Expect

Semi Private Small Group Wine Country Tour from San Francisco

Customizable Wine Country Tour from San Francisco

California’s famous wine country is not to be missed when you’re in San Francisco, and this semi private small-group day trip makes it easy to experience. After hotel pickup in the morning, you’ll head north of the city to visit boutique wineries in Napa Valley and Sonoma County that aren’t usually part of larger tour itineraries. If you have any special requests for wineries, please note them at the time of booking, and your guide may work them in, if possible.

During your day trip, you’ll meet local winemakers and sample varietals from winemaking regions like Yountville, Carneros, Kenwood and Oakville. Wine-tasting fees are not included, giving you the flexibility to purchase what suits you, whether a flight of samples, a glass or even a whole bottle. Hear fascinating commentary from your guide about the industry, and purchase lunch at one of the wineries, if you wish (own expense).

On the drive back to San Francisco, you can choose to be taken back to the city for hotel drop-off or be dropped in the charming town of Sausalito on the north side of the Golden Gate Bridge. On your own, you may shop in the many boutiques and galleries, or perhaps grab a snack or drink at a waterfront restaurant; then take the ferry across San Francisco Bay to return to the city (food, drinks and ferry are at your own expense).

This tour was fantastic. We were lucky enough to have a small vehicle and there were only 4 of us on the tour, so this gave us the flexibility to spend as much time as we liked at each wine estate and to come to an agreement with our tour guide and among ourselves, as to which wine farms we would like to visit and where we would like to have lunch etc.
Our tour guide was fantastic! He was friendly, helpful and very knowledgeable about the area and about the best wine estates to visit. We visited some in the Nappa Valley and some in Sonoma Valley, and we stopped for lunch in the beautiful little town of Yountville, which has a few fanstastic restaurants, two or more of which are Michelin starred, like French Laundry. We managed to obtain a table at a beautiful Italian restaurant called Bottega, which had fantastic food and very friendly staff.
We visited St Francis Wine Estate which was an amazing experience. We tasted many excellent wines and learnt a great deal about their estate and about Californian wine in general. We then visited Sunce tasting room, where we were able to taste a wide variety of excellent wines. We also visited Beaulieu estate and Carneros Sparkling Wine Estate which was magnificent and had superb views. We had a wonderful tasting of their sparkling wines - I really recommend this visit to Carneros! All in all a wonderful tour and an excellent way of seeing the Winelands. The countryside is really beautiful, apart from the wines. Cannot fault the tour or the guide at all ! Excellent value for money. Even if we had had the full complement of people, one really gets the benefit of a semi- private tour for little more than the cost of a normal tour. It is so much more enjoyable to move around without a huge group of people on a tour bus.

This trip was great! Phil was a very knowledgeable and personable driver. He was able to get us into Stag's Leap which was the winery we most wanted to visit! Other members of our tour were also able to get some of their requests met. Overall everyone was happy!
The stop at the Golden Gate Bridge on our way back was breathtaking and we got some amazing pictures.

A must-do for visiting wine-country!

Great driver and tour guide. We were able to give our recommendations on places to go based on preferences and budget. The views from the wineries we visited were amazing and the wines were delicious. I wish we could've had more time for lunch as well as visited one more winery. Ultimately worth the price for a great experience and I will use this tour company again.

This was a great experienced. The tour was tailored to the groups request and as we were a small group this was relatively easy. The driver was great just the right amount of command (to get people back on the coach) and information both about the wine area and trivia facts as we drove there.
